I thought there was only one twat, that sa1nts fella who was being a right **** until we knocked them out of both cups.... For the record, I think they'll be fine, the vast majority of the funds raised will be reinvested imo which is enough to buy a VERY decent team, and even if it's not they'll probably just hoy half a team of kids on and they'll all turn out to be stars... bastards
To be fair Southampton have had a good run from their academy system and have built a really good squad playing decent football. Unfortunately money talks and players have no loyalty, so its re-build time for them again. It would be nice if we could emulate their achievements on the academy side but would we be any different, if bigger clubs targeted our players, I think not.
Southampton were cracking for a time and played some decent football under a good manager. My point, though, is that supporters should take care before giving it the 'big 'un' as it can come back and bite them. We've seen it all with Barnsley, Blackpool, Swansea, Hull etc ........ they think they're on the up and start taking the piss out of other clubs. Some of the Southampton posters were convinced they were on their way to the top 4, they'll be lucky to finish 4th bottom this season.
I think its a sorry state of affairs when a club like Southampton and about another 12 teams in the Premier League are in a situation where the more successful a season they have the bigger chance of relegation they have the season after! I dont for a minute think they will go down, but the odds must be getting shorter with every player they lose! Whats the f**king point when you cant build on success, where you have the core of your team torn apart! Yes, they have lots of money to spend now, but they will do well to match the heights they reached last season! I wish them well personally!
Welcome Lambs, good post, we all hope to be successful, and its as well, for anyone, to realise that it could be short lived. I think that is Smugs original point. I hope both clubs have a good season, even tho I am not a big fan of your manager. I remember him as being a bit of a De Jong in his time.
You think right mate. I've always said to my sons, "Take care you don't ever speak from a 'position of power' when you're doing well and feeling invincible." Too many supporters have very short memories. Southampton were plummeting down the leagues, looking shot & with serious financial problems. From nowhere they were flying and in the top half of the PL. The supporters think they've cracked it and start lording it over 'lesser clubs'. The same thing has happened with Newcastle who were outraged when their 'massive club' was dumped into the 2nd division. As Louis Suarez would say, "What you say may come back round to bite you."
I seem to remember a few Soton fans coming on here and giving it the 'big I am' and for them if their team struggled i would have a chuckle or two at their expense! But I wouldnt tar the rest of the Soton supporters with the same brush as those nincompoops! I have what could be described as 'irrational' negative feelings against a few clubs.....Southampton are not one of them......yet! Although I was bloody jealous of them.......in the Premier League for 2 flipping minutes and they'd gained more stability than we have had after 8 seasons or so! But I guess there is no such thing as stability for clubs like ours!!!
Let's hope we both have good seasons. There are certainly three worse teams than both of us. Fat Sams mob for a start.
I don't hesitate to have negative feelings against any club mate, perhaps that's because I grew up watching us in the 70's, 80's etc. My feelings don't actually effect the club so what the **** eh? You name me any club and I'll give you a reason why I hate the ****ers
Anything associated with lawrie mackemenemy can go to pot for me, however fans are fans no matter who they support, so for that reason i pity what they are going through atm, bit like when mackemenemy put the whole team on the transfer market, karma can be a bitch
Having their ****wits throwing stinkbombs down on us when we were sardined into the away end in a heatwave. Collymore taking us to pieces, scoring a hat trick, one night match .......4-1 I think it was. A massive fight when we came out after a draw and them hiding behind the police when we got the upper hand.
