Would I like to see QPR win every game they play? Yes. Do I think that this game will have any bearing on the forthcoming season? No!
Not a great result, but I imagine the players are more concerned with not getting injured. Difficult to see this as any more than a training game with players probably at operating at around 60/75%. The system at the back will take some getting used to for a few and hopefully we'll see improvements over the next few games. I imagine if we had won by 5 or 6, we'd all be saying the opposition were rubbish. Plus ça change!
The positive for me judging by the above comments was that I didn't watch it! If we can't do 5 yard passes and create nothing for 72 minutes, it sounds like we got a hell of a lot to do in 3 weeks. I think we badly need Adel or someone like him (hard to find) to create something in the opponents half. We needed this badly all last season, and this one will be much tougher. Plus obviously we also need a very good striker, now it seems Remy has gone.
I didn't see it, but 3 at the back is not something that just 'clicks' - it will look messy for some time to come, and will need real drilling in training until everyone understands their roles. Personally I hope we persevere, it should give us a lot more flexibility. Won't cure an inability to pass though. I'd be interested to know whether Redknapp is going for this shape because he thinks it will be more effective inthe Prem or because it should suit the personnel we have. I hope its the former.
Yep still lacking in creativity, Missed most of the second half which looks like a good move now. Adel? Just not going to happen is it. Sad as he's suits 2 roles in the new formation and would leave us less exposed playing behind Charlie/Messi, whoever ends up main man. Steve Black do your stuff. Failing that we may have to start leaving subliminal graffiti messages on the route in to work for Harry. "Do you have something that's to good for you?"
I watched first 20 minutes and thought we looked far too disjointed No front foot and invited them onto us The back looked cluttered to me Hallmarks of Harold? I went out to pick up new motor came back and just seen the result No surprise as within seconds you could see this was very wrong Hopefully a daft experiment if not serious problems with this line up Everyone looked too deep as if we were playing City United or Arsenal away ... Don't include Chelsea as we win there As said hope it's an experiment
Harold we know builds from the back but I can only pray he isn't seriously thinking of doing this in the league We will get ripped to bits inviting teams onto us Need to discover the QPR playing ways ASAP Fitness rubbish Watch how the foxes or Burnley play their friendlies Rio looked like he wanted to play it out united style yet there were no outlets in midfield ... You don't play Henry in a system like this ... No need as the spare CD press in turn to man and ball It looked daft and the result suggests that too?
I flatter myself that you read between the lines in my post. I like this shape because it enables teams to attack more fluidly....but only if you press the ball high up the pitch a la Chile or Costa Rica. If you sit back it's daft and a waste, everything just gets cluttered. I'd still like us to persevere but with the intent of getting in the opposition's faces, closing down space immediately and moving the ball accurately and at pace when we have it. Do we have the players?
Sorry mate, but you looking for excuses where there are none - just a lost friendly against a German team nobody in Germany would like to see in the Bundesliga - just another artificial team. By the way - nobody in Leibzig rates them at all, actually it´s either Lok or Sachsen but never this one....
Why didn't you tell me this BEFORE the match Willy? Should have made some £££ on it. I only watched between the 20th and 30th minute and the Leipzig players pressed high up the pitch and harassed us all over the place. They looked far better fitness wise. And I see they have invested in some decent players as well. This was always a home banker had I known this prior to kick off.
Good run down Grif. Think you are pretty much on the money with that assessment mate. Will be interesting to see if performances and secondary, results improve in the coming weeks.
I'm starting wonder this too. Is 3 at the back simply an attempt to crowbar Ferdinand in the side, given it's impossible to justify dropping Onouha/not play our £8mill signing? I'm struggling to see how things work when traore, yun, simpson, hoillet, and Phillips are all fit. I was hoping we'd sign another fullback or winger on top of those as well to be honest. Green Simpson Caulker Onouha Yun M.Phillips Barton Fer Hoillet Deeney Austin Looks pretty good to me.
The idea behind a back three is that the centre midfield has to press at lighting speed. Have we the players because one of those also has to be a playmaker when we have the ball We have to have the ball so the back three play from the back side to side before always finding the water carrier If you can't work it forward then it goes back Ned Rio Caulker are all ball players Dunne and Hill not so much The ball goes long you are ducked and defeats this style and give the ball back too cheaply You invite pressure I am worried
