    AC is an awful captain.

Bring back Carberry (not as captain, but just in the line-up)

He's right it's political though. Depending on who you are, it doesn't matter how abysmal form you are in, you won't be dropped.

Just strikes me as over reaction theatre from the tweeters. Obviously just referring to them sitting cross legged on the floor...hardly insulting Islam. When did even mentioning the religion suddenly become a sensitive issue. I'm more concerned that they can't afford furniture.

Well, I thought it was quite a tactless joke and in poor taste - but also, why are all their players crammed into a bedsit?!

He may know but it'll be the editor who makes the final decision. No doubt KP is contractually obliged to produce these columns and as I understand it they are basically interviews written up to look like the "columnist" has actually written the article. He may have spoken to whoever actually wrote it at any time this week and Cook is the big story right now so it would be bizarre if he didn't comment on it.

Completely agree. The ECB is a joke at the moment. If your face fits you stay in the team no matter what and if it doesn't you get not much more than a sniff. Carberry, Compton, Taylor... the list goes on. On the other hand, Trott was mentally shot in Australia but would no doubt have played on if he had wanted to, Cook actually said it was up to Matt Prior whether he played on or not, Strauss stayed too long as well and someone at the ECB (Giles Clarke maybe?) justified Cook as captain by saying he came from the right kind of family! Is this the 1920s?

Any British person who uses the term soccer should fall on his sword. I know it's an English term taken from Association Football, but it has been hopelessly corrupted by our American cousins.

When I had my job interview the other day I ended up talking briefly about football with the boss of the company.

She called it "soccer" and she was from South Africa. Oh, and she's also a Liverpool supporter.

I use soccer quite often because a number of friends and I am into both Gridiron and Association Football, so it's a good word to use to specify which sport you're referencing. Plus I think the snobbery around it is a load of toss.

Ebbsfleet can **** off, and so can their so called international station

And personally, I use the term soccer. Outside of this forum, most of my online interaction is with Americans so it's just easier.
