Harsh. But does Joe have a point?

Joe Cole Reflects On His Time At Liverpool

Joe Cole clearly didn’t enjoy his time at Liverpool and the midfielder believes the mentality at Liverpool made it difficult for him to settle in, with their insistence on being known as the biggest club in the country catching him off guard.

The 32-year-old, who signed for Liverpool from Chelsea in 2010, didn’t make the best of starts at Liverpool after being sent off on his debut. Cole made 26 appearances for Liverpool before making a loan move to French side Lille.

Now at Aston Villa, Joe Cole has reflected on his time at Liverpool.

    ..........

I got to admit, I do avoid the "first interviews" as the interviewers are overly cringey, and do goad players in to just licking the clubs ass. If they feel the need to mention Liverpool is a fantastic club on a global and historical scale they will, if not, don't get them to say it <doh>

claire rourke does it quite often sadly, but that is not an excuse for cole to use, he should have been up for the challenge and remembered for the right reasons in effort and commitment on the pitch at this club, and we saw neither, so this is just a bollocks excuse by cole who knew he was ****e and not worthy of the shirt.

Oh don't get me wrong, it is a pathetic excuse, and any player who uses expectation as an excuse for their shortcomings don't deserve a penny in my opinion. But I do feel as a club we need to tone it down in the interviews, let the players be themselves instead of just goading them in to what you want them to say.

I was actually pleased when Cole signed cos' I thought he had usually been decent for Chelsea.
    Especially against us <grr>

But in truth he was a player who was going to seed and looked like he was carrying a few pounds too many.
The sending off on his debut v Arsenal(?) was just the first of many disappointments with him.

How does that interview excuse the fact that for a season, he was ****. Then was very average in a French league before being totally **** for West Ham <doh>

Of course any person interviewing him from within the club is going to drop lines like that in.

Those questions are just ****, I much prefer to hear the position/role the player thinks they would be best in

I also don't want to hear about competing to win things, let's take it as read professional sports people want to do that, or are not stupid enough to openly admit when they are using a club as a stepping stone for their career

Fact is he was past it and got ****ed out of Chelsea and purslow in his arrogance thought he'd buy the players and threw money at him

To compare to forest shows his true colours IMO so I hope he has a lousy time this season for karma

Joe Cole's career has been one massive let down, he could've been twice the player he ended up being but will just be remembered as mediocre and his half arsed excuses and responses to these new questions prove that. Problem with him was he thought he was a somebody after bright beginnings when in fact he was just a nobody treading water. At Anfield and everywhere else. Harsh but true.

Got the impression he never really wanted to be with us, solely totting up the coins. First game, sent off and then hindered by 'injuries' glad he was ****ed off, shameful thing was that it hadn't happened sooner

Saying Chelsea are bigger than Liverpool is the biggest insult to give us.

Question >>>>> What have the past 48 hours been like?

Joe Cole's Answer >>>>>>>>They have been crazy. I set myself a deadline to make a decision and when I made it I sent a text to Christian Purslow and Steven Gerrard and then turned my phone off. I know I have made the right decision and I am looking forward to the challenge. This is a challenge for me. I have played in London all my life. I could have stayed at Chelsea because the fans loved me and I won things, but I wanted to challenge myself and when I knew Liverpool were interested it was a no-brainer because they are the biggest club in the country.

At no point in the interview does the LFCTV person who was interviewing him mention anything about Liverpool being the biggest club in the country or in the world.

Joe Cole didn't settle because he's a injury prone, lazy, unprofessional, arrogant sack of **** who needs better excuses to justify his terrible ****ing performances while at Liverpool.
