Could there be a case made for the lady to be asset stripping?

Not quite but close. The individual assets actually have to be worth more than the company itself otherwise you are just devaluing the company you bought. Asset stripping is really more effective where the ownership and the control of the company are in different hands. If you control the sale of the assets and can walk away with the money you leave the owner in the sh**. Maybe this is what worried Katerina a bit about Cortese.

But with so much of the clubs worth related to TV money it would be very difficult to envisage asset stripping even working at Southampton, even with ownership and control in different hands.

In retrospect, what Saints probably should have done is limit the access Pochettino had to the players after it was clear he wasn't staying.

Maybe hard to do, but I do wonder if he was advising a few that they should move on to enhance their careers sooner rather than later.

No way are we being asset stripped in the pejorative sense of the phrase...more like realisation of assets with a view to at least some reinvestment. The Academy is a huge asset involving investment from Markus and Katharina...the plan could be to raise the money to pay that off (after all, Nicola borrowed against our PL money....something he said he would never do). I have no problem with selling to buy or clear debts...after all we have no idea of our financial position, but we must have achieved sufficient funds by now. The idea that we don't want anyone who doesn't want to be here sounds good, but shouldn't be carried too far...we should have sold a few, but told others to forget it. That door should have been shut before the horse bolted.

See, if you laid off the sarcasm for a day, then some of your posts wouldn't be taken the wrong way. Remember, there's no smiley for sarcasm on N606.....you told us all that the other day.

I am absolutely convinced that this is the case. I don't think Cortese is squeaky clean here either.

Quite possibly so. (on the Cortese point)

In reference to Poch. I have said it before on here and I will say it again. A Burnley fan I know, who is close to Jay's family, privately messaged me some months ago to say that Mauricio had been telling Jay's family that he'd like to work with him again at his new club as early as March.

The same person said that Tottenham had already made contact with Jay's representatives, in May, to see if he'd be interested in the move, dependent on how his injury recovery goes and the level of risk that will go with the transfer.

I have absolutely no doubt in this person.

I am never pissy, I think you can see I am probably one of the most calm people on here. Why would I get pissy over a person I don't know taking stuff I say wrongly?

I really am at the end of my tether with the Saints board, not only are they selling our best players, they're doing it before signing replacements. This leads to teams asking for a bigger fee knowing we're flush, but our genius board seem to be bidding pitiful amounts for players (Forster, Redmond) and there seems to be literally no imminent signings (apart from the 15 year old keeper), I was excited for this season a few weeks back, but I'm definitely not now. It's not asset stripping it's incompetency and we are at a real risk of being relegated due to it.

Fair point......Trouble is the whole bloody lot has been handled very badly almost amateurish. For someone who needs the fans on side to buy the season tickets and to put bums on seats.
Between now and the end of the transfer market we need some serious transfers in.......other wise we just may be struggling.
