Would love Nick Powell as I think we need a good Central attacking Midfielder.
And then an experienced Center Back.

I think Powell would be a waste of a loan. With Ince, Snodgrass, Aluko, Elmo, and Brady all available to fill the 2 wide roles and maximum of 1 central midfield/2nd striker role. The first 3 could definitely play central behind a main striker. If you're playing them behind 2 strikers then you're either playing with no wingers (532 with maybe Elmo and Brady as your wing backs) or you're looking at competing with Livermore/Hudds as the 2 in the middle in a 4 man midfield? If you went diamond you'd be looking at Meyler, Hudds, probably Livermore and then 1 from those players.

Personally I'd be looking for someone who can sit in front of the defence on their own like Ashbee used to do, and a fullback. We still only really have Rosenior as an out and out right back, and at left back you've got Dudgeon (injury concern?), Figueroa (calamitous end to the season), and hopefully Robertson (taking Brady/Elmo as a winger/wing-back option and not a fullback). I'd like to be going into the season with more than just Rosenior and Robertson as fullbacks we could depend on to play a long run of games.

IMO our loan signings will be 2 of either 4 positions: RB, CB, CM or ST

A few names off the top of my head:

RB: Héctor Bellerín, Carl Jenkinson, Martin Kelly

CB: Ilori, Nathan Aké, Karim Rekik, Kurt Zouma

CM: Marco van Ginkel, Jack Rodwell

    ST: Adam Morgan, Harry Kane

Almost definitely none of these will happen, however im bored at 1am on a Saturday morning so i thought it provide some names.

We are of course forgetting one thing. It's only 2 loan spots if the loans are from English clubs (plus Cardiff/Swansea). If we were to loan a player from abroad we can have as many as we want.

The other rule to consider, we can only take 1 player from any English side at a time. So you couldn't go and sign both the Keane brothers from Man U on loan.

The fact that Steve Bruce has not signed or approached a 'quality' striker for this level of football I would seriously suspect that the loan players brought in would be strikers.
Jelly and Long are competent at this level without being exceptional so if either get injured we would be up the proverbial creek as, despite some support on these and other boards, Sagbo and Aluko (imo) are Championship at best and would be well held by Premier League defences.
I thought we would have signed another striker (maybe we have tried and failed) as 20 goals from our two main strike partners is hardly good enough. We scored a mere 38 goals last season and the two teams that scored less were both relegated.
So I think we will bring one (or maybe two) strikers in on loan as we appear to be pretty well covered in depth in midfield and defence.

Mate seriously. You keep prattling on about this need for better strikers and continue to fail to name anyone that you could think of that we could bring in to improve what we have.

That is because I am not a Football Manager, nor do I profess to be. I have faith in Steve Bruce and I am sure he has strikers on his agenda.
A blind man can see that after Jelly and Long we have little or no depth. Nobody will convince me that Sagbo and Aluko are of Premier League level so surely the obvious is to bring in another striker. My point is that I don't believe we have approached anyone so loan-in players are the only option. WHO they will be is totally beyond me (and most other posters too) as we do not have the inside info as to WHO is available and at what wages. So what do you think? Will we just carry on up front like we left off? I can't see it but if there is nobody available then we might have to.

I also think we will bring a striker in on loan and would like to see Harry Kane but don't think he will be going anywhere.

Id like to see the other spot used on a DM but no idea who

You're not a football manager? Saying Aluko and Sagbo are Championship level at best I could've worked that out by myself.

I think we should loan that giant lad off North Ferriby, he was ace.

What is it with this board and strikers?

We'd have one for every day of the week if some people had their way. And they'd still want more.

Sagbo and Aluko Championship level? They're both better than that.

It's getting ridiculous now. People on this forum start complaining if one of our strikers don't score in one game and will say we need a new striker.

I'd beg to differ Benjo. Sagbo has 2 from 28 appearances whilst Aluko has 1 from 17 appearances (0 from 5 in the FA Cup) whilst in the Championship he scored 8 from23.
Nobody would be more pleased than I if they both came out next season and started to score regularly but I cannot see it against Premier League defences.
The discussion on 'strikers' is simply because we were the third lowest scorers in the EPL last season, although Long and Jelly didn't come in until the second half of the season, and our record isn't very convincing when you look at Graham and Proschwitz. We really do need some more strength up front.

I say it every transfer window, but football fans are obsessed with strikers. If you were to ask what kind of player they needed, the usual response is "probably another striker." let's face it, nobody is going to replace Long or Jelly up front, so who's goibg to want to come to sit on the bench?

Suarez would have struggled to get into double figures last season had he been up front with our supply line. I'm guessing that is why snodgrass and ince have been brought in.

According to Burnsy we're interesting in Carl Jenkinson on Loan.

We've lost Matty (and big Nick isn't going to get a game) from last season and we've also got the European games to play extra from last season so makes sense that we need another striker in especially as Aluko seems to be a bit injury prone.

We do need another striker, that's not debatable. But we certainly don't need two. Not that they're ready, but it doesn't give the youth team much to look forward to if we just buy people to fill the positions. We moan about our lads not being given a chance, but then sit there wanting SB to buy strikers in.

I think we will get one on loan, then try bringing through a yts as back up.
