Not a bad choice. Wouldn't mind Land Of Hope And Glory either.

Seen something the other day. There are 53 countries in the Commonwealth. In 42 of them homosexuality is illegal, and in 2 of those it's punishable by death. (In the rest of the world it's about 40 out of 140 countries that have laws against it, so yay Britain teaching respect and tolerance to the uncivilised, we managed to only make people between 2 and 3 times less tolerant than the rest of the world <doh>).

In Russia, that country that was heavily criticised for it's stance on the subject during the Winter Olympics, it's not illegal. (the laws against promoting it with propaganda are being abused to clamp down on anything public, but if you're just at it at home you're fine)

Don't see why homosexuality shouldn't be illegal, it not normal.

    Beastiality will be legalised soon.

Different way of looking at that. When people come up with these facts about how "in Alabama it's legal to have sex with a sheep" or whatever weird "law" it is that time they're looking at it the wrong way. There's no law that says it's legal, it's a lack of a law to stop people doing it that makes it legal. Assuming it's something that's illegal here, that means that at some point in history not only did a lot of people here think there was something wrong with the thing that's illegal, but there were also so many people doing it that they felt they needed to make a law to be able to stop them. It's more worrying really that a load of English people used to do something weird than it is that a load of redneck americans have never reached the point where it's been such a big problem they've had to make it illegal.

We can thank our neighbours for that behaviour.

These old stereotypes aren't built on idle ideas you know...

Yeah, farting in public isn't "legal" but there is no law prohibiting it so we're all okay.

Not sure how homosexuals affect anyone really. Why does it matter what people do in their own home. Live and let live.

Yeah i get you. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion in this world and not everyone is going to agree.

We all like and don't like different things, we can't expect other people to conform to it just because we do. We're all just lucky we live in a tolerable country so we can have opinions like that.

I'm off to bed but if this strays onto politics Ricardo will be on swinging his mod-hammer, now rusty after months of inactivity. It's good to have the nightwatchman back.

I think you need to make that 2 words in future. It's suffering from the "Scunthorpe problem".

1/10 of the population, 1/2 the medals. Not bad going.

Has anyone started the "Yorkshire as a nation" table yet?

You still don't get that it's an internet forum and it's an international competition so people are going to be taking shots at each other's sides? Treat it like an Arsenal fan taking a shot at you as a City fan.
