And even attacking for the first half of last season he couldn't cross well however hard he tried. If he starts and goes through that phase again I hope our squad is big enough this season to change things. This is the main reason for a bigger squad, competition. And I really hope people have to play for their places more.

Looking at the videos of him attacking down that left wing at speed he looks like a young Gareth Bale. If he can show that form for us I'd agree with you that 5 mill. would still have been a bargain. After only one season out of the amateur ranks he has made amazing progress. Incredible potential...other than Curtis this may turn out to be Brucies best signing yet. Can't wait to see him at the KC.

That is exactly what I thought.....lets not get too ahead of ourselves but I really did see the similarities. The turn of pace he shows when the space opens up for him is frightening! :D

Not disputing this...just that all the comments are about his attacking prowess and no-one has really mentioned his primary role as a defender

you can't gauge defending capability from video clips

his positional play can be a bit lax at times, but he's only young, he will improve massively in our squad with the help of davies and co, like i said, we will struggle to hold onto him in a few years

him and gauld are the brightest scottish prospects for a long while

It's 11pm I think. But he only misses this qualifying tie. We register a new set of players for the group stage.

Only this one yeah so he could play in the play off if we get through, then the groups after that. New squads are submitted today, then before play off round, then before groups.

Great minds CT, was just gonna post myself how much he reminds me of Bale when he started out. If he ends up half that (1/2 bale = bushel ?) then we'll be getting a real bargain.

That makes three of us who've had the same reaction to the video TC. I know videos can be deceiving...Aluko's video from Rangers comes to mind...but Robertson's speed, change of pace, ball control, tremendous shot, and pinpoint crossing accuracy does remind me of Gareth Bale. I wouldn't be surprised to see Bruce move him up to LW in a year or two. There's a fantastic talent in that young lad. Look at the price Shaw has gone for although of course he's the more complete package defensively.

How was Aluko's deceiving? It's not as if the video's deceived us by making him think he wasn't injury prone. The skills and technique Aluko displayed in those videos was replicated in those opening Championship months.

    exactly

aluko was absolute class in the spl, and he was absolute class for us.. till he got his injury.. he was the best champ player by far.. aluko hadn't had the injury before...

it's unfortunate, but aluko is ****ing class.. atleast before the injury

Totally agree - future winger in the making. Out wide, the lad's got an eye for a short pass for the one-two, excellent crosses and an accurate placement when taking a shot at speed from wide. He's not bad at beating a man inside or outside either - his pace will be intimidating for defenders - in or out. If our strikers are on the ball & work with him, we're in for an exciting season. I don't think Brucie should hold him back - starting lineup would build his confidence - he's obviously a quick learner based on his progression in the last 18-24 months. An exciting prospect...as they say, best form of defense is attack. If Brucie sets it up correctly, the defense will compensate/organize appropriately for his swashbuckling attitude.
    Bring it on.

It was deceiving in that he has shown nothing remotely approaching the speed and skills he showed on that video since he came back from his injury. How much of that drop in form has been due to that injury and his lack of fitness I don't know. The fact is he is not the same player today as he was at Rangers. Stewart comes to mind. If Sone can get back to where he was then we'll have a terrific player. If not he may struggle to make an impact with the players we now have.
