There have been 13 in all, down the years. Alex Arthur (who liked to call himself "Amazing Alex" before he got well duffed up by Nicky Cook, and then again by Nigel Wright) was the most recent according to Box Rec.

Ricky Burns did pretty well and was WBA Lightweight champ for a wee while until he got his face pushed in by Terence Crawford. He's trying to arrange a fight for September but it's likely to be held in Manchester so that's probably three votes a Scot won't be able to count on in September.

Scott Harrison (alias: The Real McCoy) was an excellent role model for young Scottish boxers. He withdrew from a bout so he could go into rehab for alcohol abuse and depression, in 2006. This followed several arrests for scrapping in Glasgow pubs and being imprisoned in Spain for assault. He was also withdrawn from one bout for being too fat. The clue is in the name, Scotty boy.... Featherweight..? Get it..?


So.... I can see why you're so proud of yer man this morning, Aldo. McFadden fought well. A scrapper he certainly is. But he's no technician and he can't always rely on his opponent's gumshield repeatedly falling out, causing the issuance of public warnings which pretty much put the bout out of reach for the Welsh lad. But he'll do well in the Games and the home support could easily carry him to the gold medal. Good luck to him on that.
