The bonus is it doesn't look like they'll make the top 8 which will mean they only have 5 games remaining and the home ones are 1st August, 29th August and 12th September. We're only playing 24th August at home in that time (although we're playing 15th September as well). So the pitch won't be getting hammered by both sports.

Reading and Wigan's pitches seem to cope better than ours. And, you would expect Swansea's pitch to look worse than ours in winter with it getting a hammering from 2 teams but it doesn't.

If they'd built the stadium the right way round so the sun got in there wouldn't be this discussion anyway

It's built like that so at 3pm on a Saturday the people in the most expensive seats don't get the sun in their eyes, simple as that.

Also other grounds have much bigger stands and somehow manage to get the grass to grow.

We won't be in the League Cup til the 3rd Round as we're a European qualifier (rest of PL come in at 2nd Round stage), isn't that nearer the end of September?

If he's talking about the state of the pitch at the moment, and you're saying we should look at the football as the reason it's cut up and looking bad, I think we should look at the tractor pulling contests as well. It's a brand new pitch that the football team has never played on as it was ripped up and relaid after the polo game. The state of the pitch can only be down to the people who installed it or the rugby team as they're the only ones to have been near it so far.

Like most if not all clubs at this level, we have artificial light rigs which are portable and used to grow the grass during the week

    The pitch was/is fine.
It isn't being 'ripped up' or 'full of divots' at all. Busdriver is being a c..k for the sake of it.
Like I said the proof is that the RL team causes no issue at all. Playing football on it in the middle of winter does.

Also let us not forget how many years in a row old Trafford had to be re-laid due it's poor condition and I don't think they could blame RL for that although Busdriver would probably give it a go!

Ask the ground staff at City who do the most damage & you will be told that it is the football not the Rugby League.

The biggest problem for the pitch is the design of the stadium which means that in winter months not much sun reaches the pitch when it is lower in the sky. This is made worse by the enclosed bowl shape which also means there is very little ventilation at pitch level to help dry it out.

We do now have the lighting system to try to help during the winter months.

I cannot agree with busdriver at all about the impact of RL, but it is worth a mention that the pitch would probably have been better if it had been left time to establish after being relaid, which has not really been possible as this was done when the RL season was in full swing

How come we played football on Boothferry Park for 50 winters and the pitch was never in 'poor condition' ? The only time it did look a mess was following a rugby league international when they salted the ground to thaw it out and get the game played.
Alex Ferguson wasn't a fan of RL being played on Old Trafford because he said it ruined the pitch.
And less of the name calling.

They threw salt on the pitch but it's the fault of the RL and not the SALT.……Deary me.
Yeah 1 game of RL a year caused it to be re-layed almost annually.……Deary me.
If you don't like being called a name then don't post like one then.

Fergie wasn't right about everything. His moan wasn't shared by half his players, who enjoyed watching RL either at Salford or the grand finals. As it is, they play one game of RL on Old Trafford every year, so it's hardly going to create havoc with the pitch. I used to watch the Quins RU team at the Stoop. They played two RU games a week on that pitch and it always look fine. As for Fer Ark, that was our pitch, alas the KC, strictly speaking, is not. My cousin is landscape gardener and no fan of RL, and he reckons that given the amount of RL played on it and when, your theory doesn't stack up.

For what is worth, and I've said this before - and apologies for raking over old ground (pun intended), but had the Allams been prepared to buy the KC rather than have it given to them for nothing (as they wanted), the council could then have used the money to build a smaller stadium for Hull FC (better atmosphere for their fans if nothing else) and perhaps by adding a running track etc they could have made it a community multi-purpose stadia. Everyone, regardless of sporting preference could have been happy.

Castro nailed it. We dont like Hull Fc being in the KC and want em to **** off but they cant. So its a boring old arguement with no outcome for the foreseeable future.
