Seems quite a few of us are enjoying the leisurely pace of this transfer window. Still reckon there will be some last day action (Levy must have some fun / keep his hand in) .
There's enough goals in Adebayor, Soldado, Eriksen, Lamela and then players like Paulinho, Chadli who should be able to get a few I'd say. Ade on his day is unplayable, Soldado - if he regains Valencia form - will be fine, Eriksen will only get better as will Lamela and Paulinho and Chadli (Townsend too) can provide a threat from midfield. Rumours today also linked a switch deal involving Vlaar and Daws. Not sure there'd be much point, Vlaar was immense in the world cup but would a highline suit him?
I'm not that bothered whether we get in any more players. We have such a large squad, with so many players having under-performed last season, that we really do need to work on fixing what was wrong under AVB/Sherwood rather than try to paper over the cracks with new signings. If King Poch can get the likes of Lamela, Soldado, and Paulhino performing at anything close to their abilities, and if he can bring out the best in youngsters like Walker, Davies, Townsend, Eriksen, Rose, Fryers, etc, we are going to be awesome! I am, once again, daring to hope that the Might Spurs Juggernaut will soon hit the road, with King Poch at the wheel pushing the pedal to the metal, honking his mighty horn, headlights ablaze, leaving Biblical mounds of roadkill in his wake.
Yes, I think I spy mixed metaphors in there somewhere. But I agree, especially about Lamela. I think now his confidence appears to be restored, so long as he stays fit, I think he could be a revelation for us this season.
There's a rumour today that Roma are interested in Chiriches. Might fit in with our supposed interest in their striker. Probably bollocks though, as he's just injured.
Is that his first loan spell? Can't remember another. Should be a good move for him, they're usually a very attack minded side and he's probably relieved he can have a year away from all the "Bale" chants
"he's probably relieved he can have a year away from all the "Bale" chants" There's only two Gareth Bales. <1882>
Leicester City have joined QPR and Crystal Palace in the race for Tottenham midfielder Lewis Holtby, 23, on loan. (Daily Star) Surely, Holtby is better than this!
True. If there had been any justice in the world, Pulis would have been manager at the Lane, this season.
Holtby may have been our best player in the two preseason games. I think he needs quality around him to be effective, but I think he's good enough to play frequently for us. It's funny how we have three of everything this year. #10: Eriksen, Lamela and Holtby. Again, you'd expect a captain of Germany U-21s to be a special player. The question is how much he will figure in Poch's plans. Majorly, I would say, to judge from the first two preseason games. I'd be disappointed to see Chiriches go, as he, Vertonghen and Kaboul all seem like they would fit in well with Poch's system. He had that absolute howler last year with the backpass to Lloris, then the insane pass after that. But that was the only huge mistake that comes to mind, whereas the other CBs seemed like they had three or five. He did a lot of good things as well, and may have had our least wretched year of the CBs. If he does go it may be the falling down drunk incident, which surely won't thrill a coach with a penchant for fitness.
I've updated the front page with Davies, Vorm, Sigurdsson and McEvoy. Anyone know the exact details of the Davies, Vorm and Sigurdsson deals? I've put that Davies and Sig were direct swaps and Vorm was £5m but I can't seem to find details anywhere
