saw him live in the third division, he's obviously a cut above that cack of sack couple of games for dundee, it's hard to gauge his defensive capabilities but he reminds me of glen johnson when surging forward, he can cut inside really well, could easily play as a left midfielder, with solid defensive partners, davies/chester etc, I can see him staking a claim as a first team regular this season, he's tenacious and has the pace to help fix any errors he might make depends how quickly he adapts to the premier league though oh and he's only young
A bloke I talk to on a car club forum has a season ticket up there. He has just spent the last 20 minutes trying to get the word filter to explode over this Word is he plays without any fear when he gets forward and is a pretty good crosser of the ball. He defends well but can get caught out of position now and again but at the end of the day, he is 20 years old and has only played 1 season as a professional player. Said mate is feckin gutted about this and is hoping our bid turns to s**te. He also said he has a old head on very young shoulders and has a great attitude in everything he does. One for the very near future IF it happens
Does he need to be in the Europa league squad. I thought because he was U21 he didn't have to be included or something? Or is that just a PL thing
I posted on the transfer rumours thread that he's relatively inexperienced at anything like a decent level but sometimes you have to hold your hands up and trust in SB. He's been vocal in his appreciation of him and somewhat dogged in his pursuit of his signature. Fingers crossed the kid can hack it and turns out to be a superstar.
Think he has to be listed to feature in the first game. There is plenty of time for him to sign before the deadline for the group games.
Only if he's already been at the club for two consecutive full seasons, else he has to be registered on the normal squad list.
He's going to have some good players playing in front of him on the left wing...Brady, Boyd, Ince, Quinn...I'm sure they'll help him develop as a player.
Agreed ^^^ this. Under Steve Bruce he will be well looked after. Gordon Strachan was the one who alerted SB to him by all accounts. Agreed John. So do i.
Can understand the arguments about Elmo not being suited to right back but the idea of him overlapping Snodgrass who cuts in a lot is mouth-watering!
and why not with Alan McGregor & Robert Snodgrass we're shifting from Irish to Scottish all of a sudden!
It is nice to have a very large majority of our main squad be British and/or Irish. Our main squad (if I include Robertson) will be at 28 players - only 8 of those are of nationalities outside of the UK and Ireland (and two of those, Aluko and CJM, were born in England)
As I outlined previously, this is an SB strategy to foster a good dressing room where everyone or nearly everyone buys into the anglophone culture.
Looks great on you tube as does this guy - we should really go for him too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3HILQFSPjWE
