Bit of a Friday afternoon thread, but with the sun beating down and temps in mid 20's, trust me this is our equivalent of 30 degrees plus here, thoughts turn towards the Friday evening tipple..... Now Mrs TR and myself are usually wine drinkers especially rose' at this time of year, but recently we discovered the delights of Vermouth, 15% proof, poured into a martini glass with a few ice cubes and a slice of lemon it's a perfect summer drink......it's even better as the bottle only costs â¬4.99 in Lidl........Happy Days..... Cheers lads & lasses, enjoy the weekend.....
A nice glass of palliser estate Sauvignon blanc, better value and in my opinion much nicer than it's highly regarded competitor cloudy bay!
I find one is enough, but very refreshing. Sadly I have developed some kind of reaction to rose wine, it gives me an instant headache (as does Caffrey's). Thankfully I'm fine on the red and the white though. I'm getting thirsty.
For me, one part freshly squeezed lemon juice to around 8 parts carbonated water. I know how to live.
Its bucketing it down in EC3 - I hope that means the nice weather will hit us tomorrow Tramore! Had a heavy Thursday night - might stick to the Peronis tonight.
Today has been a couple of pints of Rebellion Smuggler over lunch, then chilling outside my sister's tent whilst the BBQ lights. After that, who knows!
Same issue with me in EC3. Just back from 6 pints of Peroni at The Sterling underneath the Gherkin- was sitting outside- legged it in when it started spitting then soon after it bucketed down
I will be drinking something that shares the same name as the 18 rated film I like to watch on a Friday night, Blue Nun... Ok again that was pretty awful so sorry about that. Fullers ESB for me!
I'm led to believe the serviced hotel apartment I'll be living in has plenty of bars plus the expat 'booze store' isn't too far away. I will survive. Getting my Skygo account to work out there a bigger concern I'm with you on the Pernod / Pastis kick although can only tolerate one. I will be partaking of a few Jupilers when the wife gets back from work
It's great when people come over, "you sure you don't want to take this booze you bought back with you? I won't drink it." except i always do without exception-so going classy tonight with leftover west coast cooler, lovely..
Tranmore, if you want to treat yourself, try some Dolin vermouth - or even Sacred, a gin maker who also makes a mean vermouth. Pricier, but the quality's excellent. Me? I get to make cocktails for everyone else to enjoy tonight, but you can't go wrong with a Moscow Mule on a sunny day.
Start with a Kronenbourg (yes, not English; an overseas beverage!!) Then we shall see where I go from there !! I believe it is important to get , an all-round experience
