Can we not take a minute to just pause and be happy? We have to have the squad in by 11pm today, no one else is coming in before then (I wouldn't think) so we can chill for a little bit now.
Has any got any thoughts on how we are likely to utilise our loan spots? If all our defensive targets come off (Robertson, Dawson, Maguire) and with the midfielders (Ince, Snodgrass, Livermore) already brought in, what would we look to do? I imagine a striker and def midfielder. Who are viable options that will become available on loan?
What about Bentaleb from Spurs for a loan spot? Seemed decent enough last season and may not be in Pochettino's plans
The rumours now are that our last bid for Robertson was rejected and that we're now out of the race to sign him. http://www.eveningtelegraph.co.uk/sport/dundee-united/hull-city-drop-out-of-the-race-for-dundee-united-defender-1.488839
Loans are usually done towards the end of window after the big clubs have done business. It wouldn't surprise me if we see one or two come in the last week of the window.
Although i agree with you, he didnt look anything special, you have to take into consideration how young the kid is, the experience he's already got at such a young age and his potential. I think if we eventually sign him and Bruce works closely with him he'll become a top defender.
Of cause I agree, but if we are being held to ransom by the blades I am not that bothered. What I have seen Cooper looked as good as him at his age, and look what happen to him. Though I am pleased to see, he is performing well at a lower level.
Maguire has come across to me as slow and ponderous. I can't see what City see in him. Looks average at best...
With Robertson looking like a done deal, I think that confirms our starting 11 for next season. Players we bring in now will most likely be backup, squad players IMO. (Except maybe another first choice CB)
Good news...we can do a lot better...and we already have ample cover with Macca, Bruce, even Figgy. As Ellewoods says we should look at the US/Galaxys Gonzalez who is outstanding.
Agreed John. What we have offered is more than enough for a league 1 player. I suspect that SB will just work further down his list. No big loss imo.
At the end of the day I'm glad its turned out this way, reading some of the posts on Sheffield utd forum's there is a bit of shock and amazement that we've pulled the plug, get the impression that they were banking on the money for team building.
