I think the ticket prices for all midweek live on tv cup games should be £5 for adults and £1 for concessions then we would have a near full house at Ibrox but the grees from the men in suits prevents this!

Not a dig at Rangers but entirely indicative of the royal shafting Scottish football fans are taking at the moment. £20 for a January mid-week cup game is utterly shocking.

The other teams moan about an "Old Firm monopoly" then raise ticket prices whenever we come to town. Killie not letting Rangers drop the price is ridiculous and surely they could have added another 10-15K onto the attendance if the prices were reasonable. The money made in concession sales would have more than made up the shortfall.

It's not just Scottish football though EPL average attendances are dropping like a lead weight at the minute. I was talking to Staggie about this the other day and mentioned that we could learn a lot from the Bundesliga model and the model they use for lower league football too.

Plus I saw Stewart Regan moaning that Celtic & Rangers don't want a winter break because they'll lose out on big money pre-season friendlies/tournaments. In terms of TV money and revenue that isn't matchday sales those few pre-season games make both clubs more than the TV money for the SPL each season. Which is embarassing really that Celtic can make more money playing Benfica and Man Utd in the States than in 38 SPL games.

I missed the game, the boy in my cabin was watching some ****e and all the auld ****ers were watching the soaps in the TV lounge. They had it on in the smokers TV room but that place is minging, no soaps but loads of weirdos smoking camel cigars in there. These platforms have an inoradinate amount of old ****s on them because there are so many guys who worked for Shell since the 70's and just are too set in their ways to go elsewhere.

I ended-up just reading the BBC live text and making fun of Aberdonians on 606. I see Walter Smith said he'd find it hard to pick Miller if he signs a pre-contract. That's his way of saying "Get tae **** Kenny if you're not signing a new deal" Fair do's to him, not letting player power win out. Need more managers like that after Man Utd and Man City shat it off Rooney and Tevez respectively.

There's been some league games at the Stade Gadd where they've been lucky if there was 10k there. We could have fiddled with the number, like a certain other club but we're not into the lying business unlike a certain doctor and his pinstriped pal

Although I did expect last night to be the lowest crowd at Ibrox I can remember, it should have been priced at £8 / £12 for a January cup tie against a team we'll play 4 times this season. Sadly the folk in charge of our club are mongs.

I genuinely think that high ticket prices are seriously bad of the Old Firm in the long-run as the last thing either team needs is falling season book renewals and half-empty grounds. All the other grounds (apart from Tynecastle to be fair to the Jambo filth) are like graveyards every week. At least when Ibrox and Celtic Park were full we could lay claim to having two teams that could command 50K+ crowds at home games and show that the SPL still had some merits.
