I was just covering all my angles regarding the fitness comment, just before everyone started reeling out all those reasons. Does he have a strongest side? Does he know his strongest side? Do we have a strongest side.........

I know mate <laugh>

And as for our strongest side, I think like Eire said we are still a few signings short of that, so who knows who is going out there tonight.

It'd be great to see a win, but anything could happen.

Fantastic read and I think the square ball boys have hit the nail on the head. We haven't had a hero for years and we need one now.
“Don’t want to build Viviani up too much but I want a ‘favourite player’,” tweeted Jon Howe this week, a Square Ball contributor and author of All White: Leeds United’s 100 Greatest Players. “Someone I love & respect. Not had one for years stamps feet”; and that sums up the clamour for Viviani. It might only be a one season loan, but even if we’re only borrowing him, and even if it’s only for his free kicks, Leeds United need a player to love; Leeds United need a star."

Italian reporter reporting that the hold up in the Viviani deal is to to with the right to buy him after the loan, probably Roma don`t want him to leave on the cheap if successful.

Get him signed up today,a win over Chesterfield tomorrow then Swindon away Tuesday and all will be well in the world again <ok>

Shako Chesterfield have a very small squad and they are having some financial difficulties at present and havnt done much in the transfer market. so dont worry mate i cant see them beating you by any more than just 3 goals <ok>

Possibly one reason why these transfers seem to take a little longer with Cellino involved, Id imagine he's a tough nut to deal with and probably Salerno as well. I'd imagine they call a lot of the shots. They certainly have a wealth of experience in dealing with transfers in the Italian market

He must do as he is playing it! The strongest with who he has at present anyway. I would expect one or two changes for the Wall unless Cellino is lying to us about signings. He wouldn't do that would he?:emoticon-0107-sweat
I thought Becchio was pretty much loved by most supporters and Beckford a little.

So Eddie Gray gets his honorary doctorate from Leeds Met today.

It really pisses me off, having spent the last four years of my life giving everything to work on my PhD. Meticulously planning and carrying out experiments, reading hundreds of research papers to identify a gap in my field, coming up with something that no one has ever done before and then writing a 150 page document explaining it - which will be scrutinised by an examiner, who will then grill me in a 2 hour exam to find out whether its good enough. Then, if it is, I get my doctorate.

But no, enjoy your day and your ceremony Eddie.

(sorry about that <laugh>)

As for the result against Chesterfield, well as long as it's not a hammering i'm not concerned. As someone wrote elsewhere we turned over a strong Newcastle side a few seasons ago but went on to lose our opening games. Would like to see the players trying to keep and pass without to much hoofball. This is Hocks first choice side so want to see some cohesion and gelling. I doubt the players are gonna give 100% playing for the shirt or not.

Whilst I don't disagree with your sentiments regarding Owen Oyston, it is difficult to blame the FL in respect of the Blackpool situation as 1) the Fit and Proper test was not introduced until 2004, by which time Owen Oyston had already handed control of Blackpool to his son Karl, and 2) the fit and proper test (within Football) is normally applied upon the appointment of a director or change in ownership ( and majority of time this has occurred following administration of a club) so given that Oyston had already been in control of Blackpool since 1988, and his rape conviction wasnt until 1995, the FPT wouldnt have applied, and upon Oyston failing in 1999, the Radio Authority's Fit and Proper Test to hold broadcasting licences, he transferred control of all of his companies to his son, and 3) if the club were in such a perilous financial position when they got promoted, surely they would have failed the FA test, which is a lot more stringent than the FL test.

Now in reality we all know that the money utilised to run Blackpool comes from Owen Oyston, no matter which Oyston is actually classed as owner, and forgetting the significant difference in crimes and also our own bias, this is actually the main reason why I expected MC not to win his appeal against the FL to take over Leeds. We all know that once the actual ruling from the Italian courts is released (has anyone actually heard anything about this yet, I thought it was meant to be end of June) then there is a chance that the FL will be able to claim the MC is not a Fit and Proper person and force him to relinquish ownership of the club ( as I think under the terms of MC's appeal, FL approval was granted pending the actually written verdict from the Italian Court). Should this happen, then I wouldnt be surprised if one of MC's kids suddenly becomes owner of our club, although everyone will know that the club is being funded by MC and not whichever child is apparently "in control" (this has already happened previously in our country, see Chester City, when owner Stephen Vaughan having failed the Fl ownership test was unable to buy the club out of administration, so the club was "bought" by his 22 year old son instead).

Now I'm sure every other fan from any other club would be miffed about this, as we all would know that the money to run the club would be coming from MC, so in reality he would still be in control, and thus no different to the Blackpool situation. Would you be as critical then of the FL for allowing someone who has broken their rules to get around the ownership/controlling interest of our club this way or would you be defending whichever sibling is in charge of club, saying you cant judge them for whatever crimes their father has done. Jump ahead 5 years and we then find ourselves in a similar financial mess to how it appears Blackpool are now, under the same ownership regime I described above, do we then blame the football authorities for allowing this to happen, or do we accept that at the time when the football authorities were in a position to do something, this would have been contra to what we as fans would have wanted.

Good points aski. Suffice to say the fit and proper test needs to be revised big time. Thankfully our owner managed to get over the line though as we would not be having discussions today about our quality of signings, we'd have had far more serious issues to discuss

If Eddie Gray is going to get an Honorary doctorate, will they be teaching him how to make public presentations? Tired of hearing "you know" and football.. If ew knew, we wouldn't need him to tell us. Moreover, we know its a FOOTBALL club or a FOOTBALL team, or anything else where he unnecessarily puts in the word FOOTBALL.
