Happier news just in - Aberdeen beat Groningen away this evening to go through to the Europa cup proper. And fishing was an event in the original Commonwealth games - it was banned after a protest from the Skates, I understand.

Mostly because if I leave, I want to leave on my own terms, not because some dick told me to **** off. Don't want to give him the satisfaction.

The dickhead from the Sunderland board that poisoned things over here for a while used the same rationale. Just leave it PL.

Hmmmm, on the BBC sport football page http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/ there is a link saying 'dicks finds womens football refreshing'

Oh it's Julian Dicks, move on, nothing to read here.

My son and I had seats right at the finish line of the commonwealth triathlons today. It was awesome and we were even on TV a few times :)

That's a little blinkered Jen. The suggestion I was trying to make was that if graduates were struggling to get a job, a suggestion was to find companies in the line of work you want to be in and if they had no current vacancies, why not ask them if there was anything they could offer you to gain experience. If there is and to under take it for a short period if time, it may lead to them seeing what you can offer first hand and then a job offer. It shows willing and initiative, two things that could impress an employer. This could be happening while still applying for jobs. It's called being proactive.

It would be a gamble, but one I've seen people do and end up with a job.

I didn't have a pop at anyone or suggest anyone deserves not to get paid.

You know what will happen, firms would cotton onto it if they haven't already, and they can get themselves a continuing supply chain of free labour. This is exactly why we need better rights for employees, all these zero hours contracts and other draconian contracts such as the anthill at Amazon where you are sacked if you don't pick an order every 45 seconds.

Serfs used to work for free because there was no alternative, we'll be tugging our forelocks again soon the way things are going.

Not to change the subject, but to highlight The David Rudishsa Story, which I've seen on the iPlayer, and was so uplifting to the spirit.

I became ever so slightly aware of the bloke around 2010 because I happened to see an event on telly. Can't remember whether he won, lost or was placed, as they say in horsing circles. But he was definitely interesting. He had a look about him.

Looks like I wasn't the only one looking at an unique talent, because the cameras had been on him from a young age. Watch it. Religion and doctrine aside, it's good for the spirit. Plus you get to see that astonishing World Record run in the 2012 London Olympics:

I'm just waiting to get the ferry to Soton from East Cowes... The weather has been unbelievable these last 5 days in IoW.

    Best holiday ever (maybe).

I watched Newsnight last night and there was a debate going on, regarding the death penalty, between a woman who works for some organisation/charity who want the death penalty abolished and a man whose 12 year old daughter was raped and murdered and the killer is on death row. Obviously, he wants the killer to burn in hell. From what I saw it looks like most Americans still want the death penalty.

Their media is responsible for their s**tty attitudes. People equate justice with revenge because of the way it's portrayed on the news. They don't get enough satisfaction from seeing the villain simply put in a prison.

I'm in the magical PO log again, and this time two different people have asked me to let them know when I'm done with it. I'm going to email them both at the same time and they can race for it. I AM GOD.

Edit: And the race is on! Louise v Sian. Who will win?

To be fair, if I had a daughter who was raped and killed, I'd want the scum who did it executed. Crimes like that deserve the death penalty IMO.

So would I, but that's revenge isn't it. Not justice. Just because that's what you would want that doesn't mean it's the right thing to do.
