To be fair, if it was fixed price no one would have got that plane for £198, and when demand goes up people are willing to get ripped off as peter has just kindly proven for us. Most of our clubs real support will have season tickets and be unaffected but it would help get more bodies in for low demand games and help the club earn more for high demand games. And of course early birds will always be able to pick up a bargain.
Less than three hours from Zalina to Bratislava isn't bad. There were two other alternatives: Get a later train to Bratislava and stay a night in Bratislava, or After the match go straight to Bratislava and on to the airport I'm practically going to do the latter although having a shower and relax in the hotel before setting off for the train station about 2 am. I was so focused on getting to the match that I hadn't really considered getting back!
Can you imagine what it would have been like if I'd booked it at £190 and then seeing Vojvodina go 3-0 up! I suppose changing flights totally would have been a lot cheaper.
The CTWD deal was a good offer and had the advantage of leaving from Heathrow. I didn't like the idea of sharing a room and not knowing the hotel. The Holiday Inn overlooks the ground so I could always save some money by not buying a match ticket! I was wanting a match like this and not something like Paris or Rome. When I go abroad I always go to the nitty gritty places and avoid the tourist areas.
Can you imagine the club getting the software right? I could just see them selling tickets for Manchester United at 5p and then blaming a software glitch.
Isn't there a slightly later train peter? I'm sure there was when I looked earlier. Remember, this isn't a. British airport, and you'll have no case, so the importance of getting there a day in advance isn't so pressing. 45 minutes should be plenty of time.
Yes, there's a train two hours later and it gets in with two hours to spare but I don't want to sleep in at the hotel or have problems with the train so I'd rather set off early and reduce the risk.
Typical, there's a Panorama Bar on the 10th floor of the hotel and it's supposed to have fantastic views but it's closed for July and August! You would think they'd close it at quieter times if possible.
I think I will have to collect my ticket at the ground because the club are sending them out first class on Monday and if I don't get it on Tuesday it will be too late.
What time is the kick-off at Zilina? There's UK time, CET and Slovak time. Besides seeing different times quoted on various websites they don't indicate which time zone they are using. BBC says 19.45, I've seen it 19.30 somewhere and somebody else was saying 19.00. Hull City, Trencin and UEFA don't give any times ye.
Thanks I've seen two links on the OWS about the match that don't give a ko time so there must be a third. One good thing is my hotel to the railway station is less than a kilometre and my hotel to the ground is about 100 metres. The tickets aren't being posted until Monday so I am going to ask to collect from the ground in case they dont arrive on Tuesday.
Heart rate slowed got my flights sorted. You can do Birmingham to Vienna for £180 a head with a quick changeover in Brussels each way, out Wednesday morning back Friday night, for anyone interested. It's on Tripsta, all other agents are twice the price. If anyone's thinking of doing this let me know, we can get a cheap taxi sorted with numbers.
Kick off is scheduled for 18:00 hours Slovakian time subject to changes. They should have played it in Bratislava, would have been far simpler to get to and enticed more city fans to make the trip. Zilina is quit awkward to get to and from affordable at sensible times.
I would have posted it sooner but obviously wanted to get my own booked before alerting the availability and it selling out whilst my card was being a twat. It's on Brussels Airlines as well so not a horrible line like Ryanair or Wizz Air.
