This is being said a lot and its a misunderstanding of the bids. It is not our 4th attempt it is the 4th total bid from all clubs for him. We have bid twice(1.75, and 2.5). They want 3 mill, I am not saying we should pay 3 mill or not just that there could be 100 rejected bids, it doesnt mean that a single one of them have ever reached the amount they have publicly stated it will cost to get him. As opposed to just leaving it, why not decide before hand if we are willing to pay the amount it will cost to buy someone.
Robertson is playing in a Mickey Mouse league. Who's to say he's any better than dudgeon when up against better players. If we could have got him or McGuire on the cheap then fair enough but these two together are now going to cost us more than thudd did 12 months ago.
Robertson by all accounts is talented. However, Dundee United signed him from Queens Park and he has only played one season in the SPL. I think it's a big ask for him to step up and play against really top quality right wingers. £2 million for potential is ok, more than that and I'd have reservations. Agree with other posters, how good would Townsend and Dudgeon look in the SPL?
