Can someone explain how the SMC works? Both clubs pay into it? The SMC decide where the money is spent etc??
The SMC rent the KC from the council. They then rent the ground to Hull FC and Hull City for which they receive rental payments. If the SMC make a profit then they pay rent to the Council, if they don't they don't pay a penny. Assem Allam is faced with a choice, save money on the KC and pay rent, or improve the facilities and pay no rent. he chooses to improve the facilities. Bartlett on the other hand, if my memory is not playing tricks, paid himself a huge salary to get rid of the potential profits. I don't know the individual details on how much rent is charged to Hull FC and City, but I think its based on attendances.
As I understand it, both clubs pay in, but Hull City effectively subsidise FC as Adam Pearson renegotiated a deal before taking over FC. Part of the issue is that Mr Allam feels some of the works are the Councils responsibility as they should still be subject to warranties. There's also the question of previous regimes that arguably neglected works to show a profit.
Have we renegotiated our deal? Or is the same one we've had since 2002? I seem to recall FC having theses renewed at leaat three times?
Apparently it's shorter with the addition of synthetic turf along the touch lines and behind the goals. It didn't need to be longer it already met FIFA regulations.
I suppose it must be in the agreement that if either club is struggling they can renegotiate? I doubt anyone knows but how much do we pay in? Is it a lot more than FC? Is Allam headof the SMC and he decides what it gets spent on? Sorry for all the questions but I cant get my head around it at all.
Allam owns the SMC and has complete control over it, I've no idea about the details of our respective deals.
Regarding the pitch, "The size of the playing surface is 114 x 74 metres (125 x 81 and made of rye grass with a 3% additive of artificial grass. This provides ample room for a FIFA-regulation association football pitch of 105 x 68 metres (115 x 74 yd and a standard rugby league football pitch of 100 x 68 metres (109 x 74 yd). The playing surface has an automated watering system and below-surface heating." The pitch as laid out for football was the same length as Wembley and 1 metre narrower. Wembley when laid out for rugby also has a pitch the same length and 1 metre narrower. So no need to alter pitch dimensions. If there was a load of clubs including Arsenal would have to alter their pitches as they are the same size as the KC.
They didn't have to but they have, must have been an SMC and/or Hull City decision because I can't imagine Hull FC would have been in favour as it reduces the size of the in goal areas which isn't ideal.
The pitch is looking pretty good to me tonight so all of you who where panicking the other week can Chill now
I can't really post any details, but some of the arrangements that FC benefit from, they won't benefit from ongoing and it's a fair bit of coin.
