I think it depends on state. I think usually it means that potentially they could be checked by aircraft- but I think it's pretty rare they actually have one in the air.
Different states have different laws... thankfully SC's are more pro driver than other states...

It's against the state constitution for police departments to install traffic enforcement cameras... which means no speed cams (no redlight cams either which is a shame considering how many people run red lights in SC)... I don't think they can install those license plate trackers in SC like they have in most other states either- so your day to day movements aren't being put in a big database like they are for people in other states.

We do have those dummy cell-phone towers that cops set up though to be able to hijack your phone calls and track your location more precisely without a warrant. So we are tracked by those... although you can leave cell phone at home if you don't want to be tracked.

Yeah but you are not a fugitive or planning a murder are you?

So you say speed at any speed you like barring state troopers on the roadside and drive in any lane

    Two major gripes

    1) Cyclists being more than one abreast, i am pretty sure they are not supposed to do this, and the highway code used to say travel as near to the kerb as possible, not in the middle of the lane, bit of an expert on this, past my cycling proficiency test 40 years ago, and first time as well!!!

    2) i was told that the most dangerous thing with a car was the nut holding steering wheel, so taking this literally i removed said item.....only to nearly crash on the very next journey when the wheel actually came off.

i think 2 abreast is legal but 3 not. i don't mind unless its busy traffic or worse they've taken over more than provided bike lane.

when we were in uni one of our lot had a car... builder's son type. he took the steering off for a laugh and replaced it with a vice grip

Pain in the arse on country roads, i used to be quite amenable and sit behind and pass slowly when clear, until some ancient old ****er banged on my car roof and shouted abuse about me tailgating ( if that is the right term)
Just slowed right down in front of him and did 5 mph and prevented him from passing for a mile, they must hate that, breaking their rhythm
Anyway now just blow pass them and try and blow them over, getting a bit worried though, get the urge when i am the passenger to swing my door open..........but if get an even slightly annoying one they invariable get the window down and a " bike ****er"...funny to watch the odd one wobble in the side mirror

  8. Had a discussion at work (<laugh>) today about raising money through sponsorship. Possibly going to do a coast to coast (east to west or west to east) bike ride but probably off road as much as possible to avoid this ****.

That's such a lazy, overused and basically **** argument mate, no one pays road tax as there's no such thing. There's a vehicle emissions tax that the owners of motorised vehicles using the road have to pay though.

There are a lot of shoddy cyclists, or people on bikes as I would call them, out there - the term cyclist indicates that you have an idea of what you're doing, whereas some of the morons I see meandering off the pavement to the centre line and back, salmon cyclists (who like to swim upstream), red light jump and peddle around at night with no lights, aren't worthy of the term.

<laugh> was slightly tongue in cheek.

Playing devils advocate though, down where I am, they've done loads of work recently and built cycle paths alongside the road and ****. Who pays for it though? Well it certainly doesn't come out of a "bike tax"...

Just on road tax, we have issues parking at work as have too many people not enough spaces and people used to park in resident bit over road until they made it permit holders only. But if you got 2 minutes further along, it isn't so it's free to park. I parked there one day and some old woman started moaning at me for parking outside her house... told her I pay road tax, I'm free to use and park on any road I want. She started having a right moan up and this other younger woman joined in saying she has kids and had to park all the way over there (and pointed about 30 yards away) and get the kids out of the car and to the house <laugh>

sorry if you can't walk 30 yard with your kids then **** me you're in trouble. Felt like saying, well if you weren't unemployed and probably taking money off my taxes, then you could be at work and wouldn't have to worry about people parking outside your house between 9-5 (was actually 9-1 as I was leaving at 1pm that day anyway) <doh>

Grumpy old women with nothing better to do with their life.

Not any speed... but I don't think you'll get pulled over for going anything less than 10mph over...
You won't get pulled over in the US for riding in the wrong lane... fast, slow.
You won't get pulled over for following the car in front too close. (but will get a ticket if you're in an accident and hit someone in front).
You won't get pulled over for not using your indicators. They are very rarely used in the South by anyone. My wife thinks I'm crazy for using them.

Pretty much- you only get a ticket if you speed by more than 10mph over- or are in a crash... Or if you know the cop and he has a grudge against you,
