http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/swansea-city-midfielder-alejandro-pozuelo-7500051 Swansea City midfielder Alejandro Pozuelo joins Spanish La Liga side Rayo Vallecano
Good move for him. We could all see he was a quality ball player, but it's just not worked out. A shame for both parties, but La Liga will suit his development. Interesting that he's gone to Vallecano (Michu's old stomping ground). Maybe Michu helped him out? From my sources, Pozuelo was the true instigator of the widely reported "training ground bust-up", and was told at that moment that he would never play for Swansea again. He replied by saying "Well I'm taking Canas and Michu with me." (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/27068859) This was my knowledge back in April and we never saw Poz or Canas in a match-day squad again. Michu played but without passion. But obviously I can't verify it, just sharing it and make of it what you will.
I actually liked Poz, but it was a shame that he and Canas couldn't behave professionally, and in the end they had to go, I'm sure he'll be happy back in Spain, it's just Canas left to exit now, though I suspect Chico will not be far behind!...............
Canas will go. But I'm worried for Chico. Not because I think he'll go, but because he's almost given up on learning English and 3 Spanish players are leaving. It's great that we have a Spanish Assistant Manager though, Rangel and Amat will stay, and Ash learnt some Spanish too to communicate better with Chico. If we get Montero, that will be another Spanish speaker in the ranks. Being able to actually speak to people is very important in any job, so we'll just see how the situation develops.
I can't see Chico going anywhere. When you watch the training videos he's always involved with the team
Monk is quoted in the link as saying ... "It's something we now laugh about because it was really just nothing". If Poz was told there and then that he would never play for the club again, then either that was an absurd over reaction to something that was "really just nothing", or it was not nothing and Poz deserved that, or Monk is a vindictive MF. What's your choice? I will miss Poz. He was on a good development path and showed something new or improved in every game he played before Monk took over. Now that he has gone, if Bigkidderz' quote of him is true, it might be possible to reconcile with Canas.
That would be great. Although I thought he was picked too often in front of Leon I never had a problem with his performances on the pitch. Thought he always put in a good shift.
I think that quote from Monk was press-talk. Give off a positive vibe in the press to cover up the widening cracks emerging under the surface. He talks about how 'together' the squad is. He's hardly going to come out after losing 1-0 to Chelsea, with Chico being sent off, and say that he's told two players to bugger off. We were still struggling at that stage of the season and it would have been rightly decided to give off positive press in response - if the story I've been told is true.
I would take a reconciliation with Canas too. Good squad player and another genuinely defensive midfielder. Leon's getting older, so we do need another natural DM for those busy Winter months!
I thought that Mikra because he was involved for the first 5-6 games under Monk. He played v Everton away and Napoli away among others I think and then got injured.
good decision by monk to get rid of all the spanish laudrup signings. not only does he get rid of players that apparently only signed for laudrup and may have been moaning behind the scenes as phil says, but also because it will help the camaraderie of your squad as its only natural that they would have formed a spanish clique!â¦â¦
Swamp it is only god if you improve the squad in getting rid of them. At the moment we are no worse off so It appears that getting rid of so called troublemakers may work for us as long as there arent other cliques being formed by the manager and senior players. I actually believe that Poz has the potential to be a quality player and needs the right manager, who as the ability to guide him and move him in the right direction. GM was obviously not the man, so was right to move him on. I will watch how he does with his new club with interest to see if we have let a gem get away.
I will watch Poz's career with much interest to see exactly how stupid we are in the long run ...cheap and young ...oh well , I guess Huw and Garry know what theyre doing ( heavy sigh ).
I couldn't care if he was going to be the next Ronaldo, a disruptive influence behind the scenes and I'm glad he's gone.
