So the UK and the rest of the established European countries abstained from voting on a resolution that they believed was too biased. Sounds like a mature political decision to me.

Why dilute the weight of your voice by participating in useless manoeuvres like this?

i don't know.... in the end if you want to sit on a committee on human rights shouldn't you vote? Is an abstention really a vote or signal? in the end the un have voted to do something, what i don't know so if it was wrong in the eyes of the abstainers then they have lost their chance to change it no?

    I dunno.

    Exactly.

Abstaining is the polictical equivalent of turning a blind eye. The Western European states are unable to come out against the Israelies due to the staunch support in Washington, driven by their own, it's a closed shop.

That is just not true and very very simplistic. Whilst the UN and its various organs is a political organisation, it is also a diplomatic organisation. Abstaining in diplotic debate sends many many more signals. It most certainly is not merely "turning a blind eye" - unless of course you need to do so to add weight to yet another specious argument.

Yeah it also sends the signal "crack on, we're not going to wade in", same as it did last time, and the time before and the dozens of UN resolutions on Israel prior....

Meanwhile the death toll rises, and another child dies every hour they're systematically massacring Palestinian families in Gaza.

    For shame.

The come back is that your agent-provocteur act is just a waste of space. Take if from there - if you can.

I made a simple point, you came back with abuse, so I assumed you were spent, you're now trying to twist it into something else, but I'm not playing.

Counter my argument or pipe down and **** off <ok>

It's your brain cells that are twisted if that's your interretation. I merely pointed out that you were making unhelpful comments for what appeared to be the mere hell of it. So I think it's better that you **** off - perhaps for good!

Go away idiot. You add nothing and apart from promoting argument you have no positive reason for existence.

It must be awful being you......

Anyway, I'll leave it there, as this was a decent thread until you piped up with your usual MO #86.

    Sisu.

Nice name calling there. Particularly like the "piece of ****" :D

Not once did I apologise or justify one action that Israel has taken. The opposite actually. I called myself a horrified bystander. What I was able to do as an historian (I'm not, I was simply trained as one) was remove emotion and sentiment from my view and appreciate the tactics that Israel is using and the reasons THEY not I ,THEY believe they will work and or can be justified. I've done the same before with the Nazi party, Stalin, pol pot. Etc. It's called objectivity. Nowhere did I condone it and all I pointed out was that atrocities have been committed on both sides. And mate, much like the IRA you are creating a human shield if you operate and hide military or paramilitary operations within a civilian community. Your definition may be separate to mine however. Like viewing Israel's tactics I understand WHY they operate as such as they'd be quickly destroyed if the operstedas a traditional open military force. The civilian casualties caused when Israel tries to ferret them out is an added PR bonus.

I never called you a Nazi either. I said you sounded distinctly anti Jewish which ironically while going into the type of meltdown displayed yet again on this thread you proved with increasingly intolerant posts on that previous thread. You then PM'd me whinging some more to which I responded then that I wasn't on either side (and repeated this in this thread) because it's all a Power game, no matter what. Dress it in a new flag, switch the scenarios about and you'd have the same attrocities carried out in the name of (fill in blank with prefered ideological theological excuse) just like all over the world all over history.

I Personally don't think we should get involved at all. We can't fix what we started so should wipe our hands. That would, if abandoning Israel as a result, lead to the destruction of the area as Israel would either be destroyed or destroy all around it. But our pretend intervention is merely prolonging the septic agony.

I've already suggested what you can do if you feel so strongly about this. I posted links of flights. Groups on the ground that actually help the people of Palestine but it appears your feelings are only strong enough to scream and spit at people from the very comfortable western country of Finland, over the internet no less.

You are the epitome of the internet warrior. Not brave enough to do something that actually matters about your "cause" and venting that deep knowledge that you are actually a pathetic coward against strangers on the internet from the safety of anonymity.

Maybe one day you'll really physically crack and we'll hear of some gun spree in Finland by an Irish guy with tinfoil on his head. Until then I will enjoy your impotent outbursts.

    Regards

    Anthony Graham.

This was never a decent thread. Lots of vitriol and bias being spread in the name of humanitarianism whilst the truth of the wider far more complex problem is deliberately obscured.

So I'm glad you are leaving it there. As the old saying goes "if you can't be part of the solution, you can at least stop being part of the problem".
