Robspur Lamela's heavy touch and poor shooting is letting him down again i see. Your either a wum or dont know your football fella
Depends if Lamela can show the same quality in a high pressure premier league game, or when joey Barton is trying to hack him down.
Or he only watched him playing for us last season, when he was less than impressive. I like Lamela and I think he's definitely got the talent to live up to his billing, but he looked utterly lost early on and then got injured. Not hard to see why some Spurs fans have yet to be impressed by him, especially given his cost and who he was supposedly replacing.
Totally agree PNP Lamela was poor last season, had no confidence and looked lost. But for someone to say the kid has a heavy touch and poor shot is just ridiculous when he scored 15 goals in Italy and was voted one of the best young talents in Europe.
Veron was viewed as world class in Italian football yet over here he was hopeless and played with a heavy touch. Gervinho was a headless chicken in the premier league who missed sitters yet is now a star in Serie A. I'm not saying I agree with Rob but he is entitled to form his opinion based on what he's seen of Lamela rather then YouTube clips of him playing for Roma. Personally I think he will have a good season but nothing is guaranteed.
Er - is no one else blown away by the Bale/Rodriguez/Ronaldo vs Ajax stat?! Not ONE response? Maybe I should have started a separate thread. But it's sort of transfery.
You think i cant recognise when someone has a heavy touch ? What a f**ing ridiculous thing to say. I tell you what pisses me off more than just about anything with football, and that's when people try to make out that the simplest thing in the world (such as how close a player keeps the ball to him when he controls it or runs with it) is something you need a phd in football to recognise. FFs, get over yourself.
Fair enough. I assumed that if I'd read it then most people here would have too but you never know. I've made that assumption before in the past and been wrong.
See the problem is that, from his games in a Spurs shirt last season at least, it was hard to tell sometimes whether he was trying to control the ball or actually trying a one-touch pass that was off-target. When a ball bounces off a player like that it can be tricky to tell. So y'know - maybe his touch isn't as poor as it appeared to me. Maybe it was just woeful one-touch passing. (I do, however, harbour high hopes for him still. Purely based on some YouTube videos and his price tag but what you gonna do? Go by experience and facts ALL the time? That's not what football fans do.)
London 24 headline: Tottenham boss promises fans that new signings are on the way What Pochettino has actually said: “We are very pleased with our squad,” he said. “The club made a big investment last season and we have an unbelievable squad. “We always need to improve and it is possible we will add some players, but there will not be many changes.” And that's how you get mugs like me to click on your website via newsnow.
I did the same yesterday Lenny! Saw a tweet with the exact same headline, only to be conned! Haha Does anyone else think that there been substantially less rumours in this window? I've never known there be so few reports about transfers for us. Ok, there's the total and utter bull**** after a player has had 1 good game and we suddenly get linked to them, but that doesn't count. I mean that it seems there's hardly anyone who we're genuinely interested in which holds any weight. Bony and schneiderlin are the only 2 I can think of where there's been lots of reports, which might suggest some truth. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad thing! We know all too well how bad wholesale changes are, and we'll leave that to Liverpool this season. It's just odd for the rumours to be so quiet. I've got no ammo to reel boss in with
Morning Roo I'm in the wrong job, there is someone being paid to write that! Plus we all know Chadli is "the next Bale", Oscar Borg??
it's nice isn't it? Hmmm... it's nice that no one is trying to take our players, but does that tell us that the current crop doesn't contain any top players?
I too am enjoying the lack of craziness that usually surrounds us during silly season. No one's been strenuously linked with a move away and we're getting the deals that I feel "needed" to be done, done. I'd be happy to see the window shut now if I'm honest. Of course a big name signing like Konoplyanka or Griezmann would be nice and a CB due to the injury and form worries of some of our current CB's but I wouldn't be depressed if nothing else materialises. Our squad is good, dare I say great (**hides behind pessimist protection blanket!**) and all it needs is someone to make them realise that and hopefully Poch is the man to do so.
2 obvious areas we need to work on this season. Not conceding so many ****ing goals. we need a CB who's not injury prone so we have stability in defence. Ben Davies should be an upgrade, so that's great. But I can't help but feel we need someone who is at least half established and up and coming like Vertonghen, again. Goals. - where are they coming from? we need a play maker to unlock several players so they can all chip in, IMO. We cannot rely on just Eriksen and Ade again.
Seen rumours that Poch doesn't fancy Vlad. Be a shame if true, looked a decent player before injury last year.
