I did wonder if that was the case. Thanks bhd! I suppose that when the remainder of the stand is built then it will buttress the girder (if it even needs it).

I have to say that McIlroy, Hamilton, Germany etc. etc. can move over. The building of the new stand has been the highlight of the Summer!

Thanks Bolton! My mind has been trying to extend the finished section both ways to imagine the rest, now I don't have to!

Spooky how the seats have been left down in the same arrangement in every single bay. <whistle>

Do the two tracked excavators need to take all day playing in the rubble? Could the concrete bits be removed for the piles to be placed?

They seemed to do the same thing at the other end. Maybe they are putting in the piling and keeping the rubble there for hardcore once that's done?

    Coming along nicely I see.

And despite it being a bit of a prefab - the finished product should look rather good once emblazoned with Orbital Fastener and Rocket Record adverts.

Wrong stand, maybe, but that black fascia would look good with a Watford Observer clock dead centre.

Well Wobby sells more AND tells more (sometimes).

Wasn't the clock in the Red Lion up until the recent shenanigans ?

I want to see the north end covered and seats placed and the piles for the south end starting.

Lots of activity at the ground over the past couple of days. The safety nets are being installed, all of the purlins are in place, so either waiting for the sheeting or the workmen to fix it to turn up. The large piles of rubble have been removed and advertising boards are being put in place. The players entrance has been opened up and plenty of materials have been taken in that way. Most importantly though the lines on the pitch are being applied. It might look a bit more like a football ground by this evening.:emoticon-0100-smile

I saw a photo on the Watford forums website a day or so ago showing the inside looking good - if it was for real - so they are close to completion in certain parts.
In my experience building sites look building sites till the very last day then as if by magic they materialise finished :)
(except for the India Commonwealth Games Village or other similar projects)

    Nice work :)

NB the last two blocks at either end are supposed to be getting yellow seats.

The yellow seats are going in today. Seems as if it takes some time to drill the planks, but the seats are installed very quickly. :emoticon-0100-smile

Are the "planks" not pre-drilled with holes for bolts to be inserted - it would seem like the logical thing to do? Perhaps the chaps going along the rows over the last two days were "bolt-inserters".....I dudn't see any drills, but may be mistaken.

I assumed that they were drilling as they appeared to have a template that they were using.
