Viviani’s transfer to elland Road still hangs i the balance as discussions between Roma and Leeds officials continued late in to the night.

His camp are understood to have been unimpressed with United’s performance against Mansfield Town but he will complete his move as planned if he and Leeds can iron out the contractual issues which developed in the past 24 hours.

Cellino, although on holiday made himself available to try and iron out the fine print.

Vivani would be quite a coup if we can get him. It will also make the club a more sought after destination knowing that we are signing some quality players.

I say do whatever is necessary (within reason) to capture his signature. The are a host of Italian clubs after him.

The Leeds youngsters came from behind last night to beat Corby Town 2-1 with goals from Luke Parkin and Munya Mbanje.

Hockaday will field his strongest line-up away at Chesterfield on Saturday.

Speaking to the YEP, our head coach had this to say :- “Come Saturday, I now need to put out my strongest XI, use the squad and only change it only slightly because we’ve got three friendlies left.

I know what the team will be. “I want to be getting my best players as I see them three 90-minute games before Millwall.

We’ll turn up the intensity. “At this time the team has to be my strongest. It’s a fight for the jersey.

I’ll give 11 people a jersey on Saturday and then it’s up to them to keep it. “I’ve got to pick what I see as my strongest team and that nucleus is what we’ll build on for Millwall.”

Good luck with that Hock...<ok> Morning all. Should we be showing our hand to our opening day opponents? or does it make any difference.

Morning Shaks, you alright pal? Our opening day opponents are a lot inferior to Mansfield Town. We shouldn't have any problems

The team we send out against Chesterfield will not be the team we send out against the wall, simply because we are trying to bring in another 5 or 6 players. The players we bring in may be squad players but I think we will be looking at better players who are first team starters.

Hock talks too much and although he has given everyone who's been fit an hour on the pitch, he can see plenty who will never wear the shirt again. Get rid of the useless, greedy twats please and make room for some committed players

Contract issues are why Viviani has not signed yet as reported on Sky Italia, yes he might not of been impressed with Mansfield but that has no influence on his decision to join us or not, lazy journalism imo.

If Morison is in that starting line up on Saturday then Hock my friend I will by very unhappy <ok>

Morning all. If the Hock knows and can play his current best XI, works for me. They've got to start geling as a unit. Will be interesting to see who's in and who's not. Hopefully those not in and no0t likely to be will get the message and actively start looking for other clubs.

    OUT

Kenny, Warnock, Lees, Austin, White, Norris, Tonge, Morison, Hunt and Poleon

That's almost a full team taking wages who should be elsewhere. All the time Hock fooks around giving some of these game time, makes it tougher for those who deserve a chance to impress

Agree with that Doc, all stealing a living <ok>

Will be interested to see Berardi in defence (RB) on Saturday. Spoke to a few Sampdoria fans who say he is a really solid player, one you can always depend on to put a good performance in every week no matter what.

    Agree with most of those.

There's just a couple i'd keep as squad players, at least for another year until we've bedded in our Italian team...

We need fast wingers to torment teams and excite our fans then we will go places Vivani I think will sign because he would send a message to others that we mean to go places

IF HOCKADAY PLAYS WHAT HE THINKS IS OUR STRONGEST TEAM WITH ANY OF THESE IN Kenny, Warnock, Lees, Austin, White, Norris, Tonge, Morison, Hunt and Poleon THEN WE ARE IN BIG TROUBLE AND IT WILL PROVE HE IS OUT OF HIS DEPTH IN THIS LEAGUE.

    Morning all
It seems a lot of people were impressed with the under 21s last night from what i have been reading, played good football. Swan back on trial with us played well as did Dawson. Carbone seems to rate Dawson very highly which makes you wonder why he can't get into the first team squad. Defo think Carbone is our future first team coach.
I agree with Doc about the players we need to lose but i'm more concerned about the quality of player we are gonna bring in. If Celliino doesn't want to pay high wages can't see us signing many good British players unless we take a chance on lower leagues players. Hope we can push the Viviana deal through today we need to show some intent in the transfer market especially with highly rated players.

Load of tosh Alf, all it proves is our squad is poor and the players selected are at this moment in time are the best of a bad bunch. Kenny will not be near the first team and Lees probably will play cos we are short of decent centre halves. Killock aint good enough yet.

Agree 60. Two points though, its clear who needs to go but not that simple shifting them. You can bet Cellino wants rid of all the rubbish like Kenny, Hunt Morisson but they're current wages and the fact they are useless makes it near impossible Id say to get anyone interested.
The sec on point is re the wingers. Of course we need a couple of class ones but wingers in particular will cost a lot, both i transfer fees and the salaries they will require. The last two pathetic ones we signed were prime examples. Stewart ono signed with the promise of a two and a half year contract in the summer and Kebe was to be a permanent if we had flaked promotion. They were both hopeless and had we been promoted, would have been another pair of nobodies in an ever expanding squad

Yorkie Dawson was doing a Byram the season before last but got himself injured. That set him back last year and he didn't get back to his best, or able to beef himself up a bit like he planned. So he really only got going for the last third of the season but in the development squad. He's a much better prospect than Mowatt and I expect him to break through this year.

We have to look at a couple of our kids being regulars by the 2nd half of the season: Dawson, Byram, the under 17 international and maybe Mowatt. I don't think Robbie McDaid will be far away by Xmas either. So although we are bringing in foreign talent I think we could see half the first team being our kids if handled correctly, or sold off for cash?

    Hopefully ASAP

At least he played at the highest level, meaning any prospective signings, especially Italians, would be more inclined to sign.
He's also young enough to improve, is still working for nothing which shows great commitment and attitude, and already seems to have more tactical nous than Hockaday.

Dawson also broke his leg a few years ago which has held him back but should be given a chance imo
