Not sure - I thought something had happened last week. I may be confusing it with the multi bids/rejections for the Sheffield lad. That link was up on "News Now" earlier today....maybe it should be renamed "News Way back When" !
Because for us to sell him we'd have to get a whacking great fee, which Palace are likley to be under pressure to shell out for having missed out on their primary target (Caulker). For the money we got for him we could easily sign another CB. If we said £7.5m and they said yeah, ok, who's getting the better deal there? How many decent CB's would be available at £7.5m or under? Quite a few I imagine. I'm not saying I want him to leave, just that if he did the money would be a good comfort.
So how much would you value him at in today's market? I'd have thought the £8m mark would be about right.
We would not get a better CB for 7.5m than Davies. I'd want about double that. I'll bite. Pull your head in.
Dawson is playing against Toronto FC. Came off the bench at HT along with every other Spurs outfield player. EDIT: Update: Toronto scored. EDIT: Update: Toronto scored again. Dawson is getting mugged off by Toronto FC reserves.
Man city is playing kc right now. Richards is playing looks ok so far in case we really are in for him. On Friday I intend on convincing myhill to come back to us if I get close enough to him that is. Does Richards know how to play rb? He is being made to look stupid by kc right now.
Was at the game too. Final score TFC 2 Spurs 3 (0-1,0-2 (HT),1-2,2-2,2-3) winner in 85th. TFC much better team in second half Dawson & Rose came on for 2nd half. Neither really impressed. TFC's first goal was a give away in centre field - Spurs defence, especially Dawson, were slow to react to the turnover. Poor defending. Rose gave away 2 stupid free kicks in his own half. Spurs very disjointed throughout the game. The jury's out on City's potential recruits - ok, I know it was only a pre-season friendly, but ??? On that showing they are overpriced. I bumped into a mate who's a Spurs supporter after the game. His comment was - take 'em both, please ! high school French(I think) anyone ? I am not sure that there was every anything in the Richards loan rumor. Still, Richards didnt look very good to me. Real strong on the ball but he kept letting the KC players go around him when he had to play D. He also seems fairly slow. Its a preseason warm up but I sure wasnt impressed. Man City was playing its back up and development players but I would have expected Richards to impress more. Sinclair looked real handy though.
L Dawson looked slow and cumbersome in that clip, it's only pre-season however..., plus watching Rose I couldn't help but compare him to Rosie, and wonder, in today's market, what Liam must be worth, not that I'd want to sell him obviously, Rosie is always one that I get the impression would die for the cause....and his nan's from Hull
I don't think you can take a lot of notice how they look in pre-season, I was at York last night and most looked slow and rusty.
Apparently City have failed to sign Robertson (4th attempt) with a bid of 2.5 Million now: http://www.thecourier.co.uk/sport/f...ign-dundee-united-s-andrew-robertson-1.488530 I seriously would just leave it now. You would get a decent\equal talented player from the championship for less than that, arguably plying there trade at a lot higher and more competitive level.
I agree that the player sometimes has to show that they want to move to allow a quicker resolution. However, although Maguire did not put in a transfer request, he pretty much said he wants to go to a team in the EPL and Europe....essentially, the club did not care and just kept on rolling and knocking back bids to drive the price up. I personally think its more about clubs just holding teams to ransom with the increase in TV money. Slight OT - Can clubs like Dundee afford not to sell him, I imagine 2.5 million could come in handy to them, buy a few more players to be competitive.
I've not heard anything from the player in the media saying things like "would be nice to play in Premiere League" so there's no real hint he actually wants to move away, but Brucey wants him that seems a fact.
