true but thats an option in 2 years time! unless rodgers is pulling an amzing deal here how can this kid be any more able than wisdom who we've now loaned out for yet more experience.
Rumours we are back in for Bertrand at £8m Chelsea are OK with the price but aren't keen to sell to rivals http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/spor...liverpool-fc-target-chelsea-left-back-7496378
Rodgers on big name signings: âThey are all big signings for us because they will all make a big contribution,â Rodgers said. âMaybe for the media there is guessing how we spend the money but you only spend the money if the players are there. What we canât do is spend for the sake of it. The players weâve brought in are players we wanted anyway. âOur signings are strategic. They are not just names. They all fit into the purpose of the team, but of course we want them to make a contribution. If that means we do not spend all the money or the net spend is the same, then so be it. âThere is a responsibility [to spend well]. I have always said at every club Iâve been at, the clubâs money is my money. I work for the club. Iâm there to serve the club and run it the best I can on the field and work with the owners off it. They know I push for the best players to come in and they trust how we work. I would not pay more than a value. If clubs sense there is an opportunity to get more out of us it wonât happen. We are very unified in how we work in that way. âThere is money available but we know spending money does not guarantee success. Last January everyone was crying out that we needed more signings. We never signed anyone. OK, we might have done one or two but it was not a major factor in us not winning [the title].â On Lallana's fee: âWe paid what we thought he was worth,â he said. âI spoke to enough people about him and have seen enough of him, and know enough people who had seen him and played with him to know he would be a great signing for us. I have no qualms about it. The value of British players is always pushed up. We would not go higher than we thought he was worth. âHe is a great boy. The types of players we bring in have the profile we want so the transition should be smooth. Of course it is strange for them coming into a new team, but you see it with Adam straight away, he presses for the ball when he does not have it and he has beautiful balance. He can score goals and create goals. He is a wonderful footballer. I have been impressed by his mentality and character. âThe character is important. It is not just about the player, but the right type of person. I want players that are committed to the cause to make Liverpool the best we can be. I want players resting when they should be resting, training hard and working hard and focusing on their life as footballers. We have brought in those types. It is footballing qualities and human qualities we want.â
Meanwhile, back in the real world. 2 lads from the side who finished 8th ( soon to be 3) a lad from Benfica that no ****er had ever heard of ( I seen loadz of him lid- yeah sure ) and a QPR reserve with a sick record that's getting worse by the month.... Ded Bos
I like Flanna and Enrique, I don't think there is a better pairing in terms of ability, pace, balance etc in the league. However, that doesn't mean I don't want to see full backs arriving still. And I don't mean players like Davies or Bertrand either, I mean players with first team qualities, not just back-ups! #squadgame
We go for a foreign player and get turned away by a high asking price. We then revert to looking at ****ty British players chances of them turning out to be another Studge is low, especially since we've all seen what little Bertrand has to offer. We should keep looking around the continent instead of settling. In fact lets go out and buy a LB that will take the starting place, Enrique needs to prove fitness and quality before being relied on to be LB. Best way to make the team better is to buy better than you already have.
Everton would take all the players we will dump this summer..........if they could afford any of them.
