    You are not alone.
Although £10 million for Siggurdson is way over the odds - even QPR & Palace laughed that one off.
Allen £15 mill & Shaw £27 million shows we have been well and truly screwed as far as Davies is concerned.

I heard it from the horse's mouth that Neil wanted to go and was considering his options! Trust me I see him often (customer) this was before the end of last season.

Vorm 2.5 million is very surprising!

I understand he was considering his options, and who could blame him, but surely whilst Spurs were in talks with us over Ben, Neil would have held out to see what came of it, after all, with Ben going, he would have a huge chance of being number 1, where as he could have gone else where, doubt he would go straight in as first choice at another prem club, may have had to drop to the championship to get a more guaranteed first team start. Anyway point being, I doubt he would have gone whilst we were in talks with Spurs over Ben, so we wouldn't, and shouldn't have rushed anything.

Taylor has wanted a move ever since he got here. Until he was injured rumours were pretty much. weekly event.

I know exactly where you are coming from Swansealona, I'm speculating because I can't see any other logical reason. £15 mill should have been minimum

Yeah, well he got Siggy by paying over the odds, flogging Ben for less than he's worth and throwing Vorm in for petty cash. Jumping for joy at that deal. <doh>

PS: asked you before because I don't know, but exactly when did Laudrup make any serious effort to sign Siggy? The way you're going on about it (3 different posts so far), it seems as though Laudrup made a determined effort to sign the guy but was rebuffed. If he did, it passed me by. I don't count expressing a passing interest in a player as an attempt to sign him. Nor does anyone else.

I disagree Ivor. I'd value Ben and Gylfi at roughly the same price. It's the Shaw deal that is clouding the valuation here, and of the two, I'd take Gylfi everyday before Ben as he fills a very important area of the pitch and his qualities far outweigh Bens.
We also have a ready made replacement in Neil too.

Vorm however I agree. I'd have expected 6-7 million for him.

I think Vorm only cost us 1.5 million so if we get 3 we've had had him for 2/3 seasons and doubled our money. Good business in any one's book.

Indeed. Fancy only doubling the money paid.

Shame it doesn't quite work like that. Nice idea, but very flawed, he was worth much more than £2.5m.

What is paid for a player is totally irrelevant in terms of his selling fee. A player is worth roughly what comparable players are fetching in the market and Vorm is worth far more than £2.5 million!!!! Are we saying that if we get £4 million for Michu we'd be happy about it? Well, that would be double what we paid for him wouldn't it? So I assume that would satisfy some people.

But it doesn't satisfy me. Vorm is worth more than we got for him and Jenkins has been well and truly tucked up by Levy on this one.

Maybe it £2.5M if he sits on the bench and £5M if he gets to play!

No-one here knows the details. e.g Was there a sell-on clause for Vorm so it was in Swansea's interest to get a lower valuation for him balanced by a higher one for Ben?

What I'm confident of is the board got the best or near the best deal for the club. That's good enough for me.

Considering what the board have done in the last ten years or so (turning us into a highly-profitable, debt-free, established Premier League side with a new ground, training ground etc, all without any help from a sugar daddy) I doubt there is anything else they could now do to convince the perennial moaners on here to think likewise.

Someone on a different Swansea site said it right. Can't remember which site.

Quite simply, Shaw is worth more because he's English and Ben is worth less because he's Welsh. For some reason, English players are ridiculously expensive. Tony Kroos, a World Cup and Champions League winning midfielder, was sold for 1 million less than Adam Lallana. Explain that. Ignore the values for Shaw and Lallana. They are not reflective of the current football market. Saints knew that Liverpool had a £100+ million war-chest this Summer, as was reported, and they rinsed them for all they were worth. They knew United were desperate and rinsed them for all they were worth. It's not as easy to negotiate a deal when the buyer's aren't that rich or desperate (Bale's money was well and truly spent last season).

£10 million for Siggy is good business in today's market. £10 million for Ben is good business in today's market. £2.5 million for Vorm is bad business though if true.

SSN just reported the Siggy deal is £8 million, so not exactly paying over the odds!

You make a sound judgement here, all this flapping by some on here that we have been done over with Ben Davies is laughable, who the hell had heard of Ben Davies 18 months ago? He's not worth more than £10 Million, and just because Manure pay well over the odds for Shaw has nothing to do with our deal with Spurs, and no way has Huw Jenkins been fleeced by Levy, some on here need to go back to school!.....................<ok>
