I had this done to me whilst I was on my motorbike once. This guy was waiting to pull across in front of me and instead of waiting until I passed he pulled across in front of me. I was travelling about 30/40mph when I hit the anchors and the bike just lifted off the road sliding straight towards the car, I shat myself. I missed him by inches but it was sheer luck as I had very little input with regard to the direction I was travelling once I'd lost control. The guy got out all apologies and stuff and when I asked him wtf he was thinking he said he just didn't think. Daydreaming in his own little world I guess. I should have smacked him but tbh I was just relieved to be in one piece.
Just one of the many thousands of **** drivers on the roads who are totally unsafe, wreckless and fatalities in the waiting. I'm a keen cyclist and have been knocked off in the past. Pretty acrobatic one for this guy and actually turned out well for him given the smooth landing, video footage and quick insurance claim. I was out for a ride a couple of days ago when a white van man pulled out from a side road towards me as I was crossing it, fortunately I'm very aware out on the roads and I could see he was too busy nattering to his mate in the passenger seat to actually bother looking right for oncoming traffic. Had to brake quite hard and swerve to the centre line to avoid the van. Yesterday I was on the motorway driving and basically got brake checked by some guy on his mobile because he wasn't concentrating and suddenly dropped from 70 down to 60mph. Every time I go out in the car or on my bike there's some arsehole doing something extremely stupid and dangerous. I don't know what the solution is, cars - or rather idiots driving cars - are inherently dangerous.
That's what happened to me on my road bike. Driver just decided to come straight across/into me at a junction leaving me with nowhere to go but basically try to go insider her car via the windshield.
If they did this for all similar offences they'd run out of paper and we'd be back to carving into slabs of rock mate. The standard of driving out there is absolutely shocking if you ask me. It's about raising it but how do you do that? Make people re-take their test every few years... no chance they'd get that one through. More traffic police out on the roads... they're already stretched and preoccupied with other crime like TWOCs. Introduce stricter penalties for using phones in cars, other dangerous stuff... just gets ignored and people either think **** 'em or will take the chance.
Fairly expensive kids toy in that video... deep section carbon rims by the look of it, nice brand new Giant frame, other kit... wouldn't be surprised if his bill for all that was pushing £10,000.

Do bikes pay road tax? If not, get off the road Just as many **** cyclists around as **** drivers. The amount you see weave in and out of traffic at traffic lights for you all to then have to re-overtake again.. or those that don't even bother with the lights and go ahead anyway or go up onto the pavement to skip waiting.
Yeh! and all cyclists (motorised or not) are paragons of virtue and obey all the rules and are courteous to boot. 2 months ago in London I was knocked over whilst on he pavement by a cyclist who decided to take a short cut to avoid the traffic lights! As we both picked ourselves up he looked at me as though the accident was my fault! If bloody cyclists want to be classed as road users then stay off the pavement and out of pedestrian only areas!
I find that A) half of cyclists feel they both win the road and the rules don't apply at all to them B) a lot of drivers are god awful and do not pay attention Finally last near miss I had was actually pulling into work when an asshole with ear plugs in never looked either way and ran across the road entrance and jogged on blissfully unaware I save his life by watching him do it and braked Frankly I try to look after lads on bikes and motorbikes right until they break a red light then I like to get ahead of them and block them off But then I also love boxing in undertakers on the motorway. Nothing is more fun than getting on and blocking them with a couple other cars so they end up right behind a huge queue of cars It's the simple things that get you to and from work stress free lads It's that or renacting that falling down movie and that nobody likes
thought first of all you meant people driving hearse... thought that was a bit harsh, only trying to get to a funeral Although tis bloody annoying when you're travelling behind someone going 60mph in the middle lane minding their own business and causing more congestion.
In the US there is no fast lane/slow lane- everyone just overtakes on any side and frequently get people crawling below the speed limit in the fast lane. Technically it's the same rules as Europe- but in reality- 50+% of people stay in whatever lane they feel like being in and only change lanes when someone is in their way. Can be bloody annoying. They put laws in the books in South Carolina now that you can get a ticket if you travel for 2 miles in the fast lane without overtaking anyone (to make it easier for cops to ticket for this). I've never heard of anyone getting a ticket for this though... and half the time its the cops riding in the fast lane not overtaking anyone. Besides- how do you ticket people for this- when the majority of the people driving break this rule every day?
they brought in a law overhere recently to stop middle lane hoggers. You can get a ticket if you're travelling in the middle lane not overtaking anyone if the inside lane is free... whether anyone has been done for it yet I'm not sure. The other annoying thing is Police cars driving at about 65mph. Everyone is too **** scared to go 70 and overtake them so traffic goes really slowly as everyone crawls past them at 66mph
They do one of two things here: 1) Go 30mph over the speed limit all the time- even with no lights/sirens on. 2) Hover right at the speedlimit. It's funny on the interstates... everyone knows the unwritten rule that the cops aren't supposed to ticket you for 5mph over... so people try to slowly edge past the cop car... then once they are a few car lengths ahead they gun it hoping the police won't notice... and they never seem to.
I dunno but it's really annoying, middle lane is traveling it's overtaking but I find the middle and outer lanes fill up and then the undertaking **** starts and those guys create chaos too In the us yeah I drive and it's easy enough but yeah everyone is everywhere and all well over the speed limit Milk are the speed checked by aircraft signs true or really just bollocks Has anyone ever done the full 360 round a middle lane jogger who's just trundling along? It's amazing how they'll not even notice
