    Agree with the sentiments here apart from Bob who I seem to have an increasing tendency to disagree with most of the time <laugh> Sorry Bob.

    Why is it 'amateur hour' to sign a top quality player? We are playing with the big boys now and other clubs know we have the dosh to splosh - there's no hiding that. Taylor imo is equal to Davies (who was to blame four countless goals last season when caught out of position let's not forget that!) and we've got a player who can run the midfield, with an excellent dead ball ability and accurate passing. Nice bit of business imo.

    As for Spurs, well they never got the best out of him did they? Competing for a starting place with some top quality names didn't help him get a run in the team and he'll get that here.

    So far we've lost Michu (no loss at all taking into account his mindset and last season's awful performances), Hernandez (a real shame imo) and Davies (young and talented but with with flaws and very replaceable). Not sure on the JDG situation, perhaps others know.

    In we've had Gomis (very exciting), Emnes (always puts in a shift when he comes on and can change a game) and a young crop of Scottish talent (time will tell) and now Siggy (proven at this level). Montero if he comes will be an excellent replacement for Hernandez and if we keep Bony I'll be chuffed. It'll be a killer if he goes.

    Doesn't look like amateur hour to me.

    Siggy is an excellent passer of the ball. Pablo could pass a really good ball but it took him a number of attempts to do so and would often ignore the simple ball to try and make that difficult pass which a number of times didnt come off but when it did it resulted in a goal scoring opportunity.

    So I look forward to more chances being created.

    Siggy is " Okay " , but we got taken to the cleaners finacially . 10 million for Siggy and 2.5 million for Vorm. says it all . We aren't a destination for players like we use to be We must pay over the price to get people in and receive lower funds for people wanting out .2.5 million for Vorm , what a ****in bargain for the Spurs . Huw lost the plot last half of the season and he is struggling to find it . 6 seasons of incredible growth and respect.... squandered in 6 months imo .

    Sorry but in this market £10 mill for a player of Siggys quality is about fair. He's the kind of player that we were missing last season. Pablo filled in OK but not as consistent as Siggy (check his stats)

    Its the same market we got Michu , Vorm , Chico for 15% of what we will get Siggy for . Michu was and is twice the player Siggy will ever be imo .As for stats , lets go over them at seasons end .we must pay crazy wages for Gomis and pay way over worth for Siggy .... I guess thats one way to "Attract " players

    Come on! You don't expect us to be able to find another michu do you? I think you need to be realistic. With Siggy we know exactly what we are getting! Well worth £10 million IMO!

    Also you don't know exactly how much we're paying Gomis? Doubt we would break our wage structure!

    And in this market, a half decent left back is worth more than £10m. I am not trying to claim Ben is anywhere near Shaw, but when you have a team like United paying all that money for Shaw, then surely ben is worth more than £10m.

    That is what bugs me, on current player values, I think Ben is worth more to a club than Siggy. As much as I am happy that Siggy is here, I just don't like the money being spoken.

    And if Siggy is worth £10m, then how the **** is Vorm only worth £2.5m? He was a regular starter for us for the last few seasons, yet only worth £2.5m?

    As I said in a previous post (not sure if on this thread) If Ben is worth £10m, Siggy is worth £8m and Vorm is worth £4m - and if you think Siggy is worth £10m, then I would say that Ben is worth £12.5m, Vorm worth £5m

    If Shaw = £30m
    Ben Davies = £20m +

    Even if you make an allowance for the Shaw transfer being a unique kind of deal...say a 25% allowance...Davies is still worth £15m (it's not me saying that, it's the market...and let us not forget that we had 2 of the World's richest clubs interested, Liverpool bid £16m for Spanish left-back Moreno. It was rejected).

    So we should have got £15m for Davies.

    Siggy was signed by Spurs for £8.5m when we had already agreed to pay £6.5m for him.
    He's a good player but has been used as a bit part player for Spurs over 2 years. They wanted rid of him this summer.
    There is no way his value should have gone up in that time. Palace bid £8m. So the market says that is his worth.

    Davies = £15m
    Siggy = £8m

    We've swapped them = Swansea City have been had over for £7m

    Before anyone says, "but they're subsidising his wages!"
    We see no benefit of that.
    Siggy is the one that benefits by not having to take a pay cut for dropping down a level.

    If it was a straight cash transfer for Siggy he would have been paid whatever we or Palace could afford to pay him or choose to rot in the Spurs reserves.

    Good player IMO though, but we have been had over...and not for the first time this summer.

    With regards to the Ben deal, I've heard that we have forced Spurs to put in a sell on fee clause too. Anyone else heard this? Might explain why the price is a little lower than we expected and if so, a great move by Huw.

    Other than the odd person saying "i hope we have a sell on clause", I have heard nothing else.

    Ok Ben may be sold a little less than what we would like, but we didn't have time to drag negotiations out, because Taylor staying with us was touch & go. We couldn't risk losing the two. The way I look at the Siggy deal is, it's worth paying £2 million or so more to stop him going to palace. A direct rival.

    I dunno about the whole Neil thing being touch and go, I haven't seen or heard anything about any offers that came in for him, and until that point, he was going to stay regardless, he is after all contracted to us, and would only leave if we allowed him too. I am also sure that Neil would have been happy to see what happened with Ben whilst Spurs were still in talks.

    As for Siggy and Palace, you may have a point, but all we had to do was say, you can have Ben, for Siggy + £2m. Am sure Spurs would have been somewhat happy with that, after all they would be getting the player they wanted, and whilst the deal was on the table, being discussed, they would never have sold to Palace knowing it may scupper the deal of Ben going the opposite way.

    Then we have the Vorm malarkey, the less said about that valuation, the better.
