And to continue in the pessimistic vein....i think lamella's going to disappoint a lot of people this season. I actually dont get what it is that people rate about him tbh. He's not that fast, his shot looks pretty poor, his feet are quickish but nothing special, and he's got a very heavy first touch. Would love to be wrong, but i dont think he'll be a starter come christmas.

Dawson may be getting past his best but his best was good in my opinion.
I do find it odd that we get annoyed with some players having no loyalty to the club but can't get rid of others quick enough

I don't disagree, because ATM I'd start Eriksen, Soldado, Holtby and Ade. But I think Lamela is good, and may deserve a starting place in a year or two (if he stays). I think, maybe hope, that he has a good eye for a pass, and looks noticeably stronger. The problem I saw against Seattle was temperament. He looked good to begin with, then seemed to get a little frustrated and try to do too much. If he can stay calm I think he'll be very good.

    WHAT !!

Yes he has not shown those qualities yet in the English game but he was absolutely superb for Roma in his final season. 15 goals as an outside forward and umpteen assists obviously proves he can shoot and dosent have a heavy touch.

Lack of confidence, bad injuries and looking lost were the reasons he didnt perform last season not his natural abilities. If he can finally settle down which i admit is a big ask, his talent will be there for all of us to see.

Add on top not knowing a single word of English too, plus wasn't there a bereavement or something horrible that happened to a member of his family? Not surprising the guy hardly set alight the league.

Judging by the pics on social media recently, it looks as though he's been hitting the gym and seems to have actually made a few friends in Soldado, Sandro, Falque and Ceballos so hopefully he's feeling a little more settled now. He showed glimpses of his ability against Seattle and I think with time, Lamela will be pure class.

    Hmm....

Not sure I buy it, surely Hugo must have been told he can leave next season. And £2.5m....a bargain!

£2.5m is peanuts for a keeper of Vorm's quality.

I heard it was nearer to £5m but hoping I've heard wrong!

    No it isn't.
SD said "being English doesn't necessarily qualify, if you have been abroad for a number of years like Holtby, Hargreaves".
I made the point that Holtby isn't an English person who has been abroad a few years, he is German.

If being German is irrelevant to the point that Holtby is German then can you please tell me what in the world is relevant?

Holtby counts as German for the simple reason he spent more than three years training with various German clubs prior to his 21st birthday, therefore making him a HG player in the Bundesliga.

The scary part is that, technically, he qualified as a HG player by the time he was seven...

Holtby is as much English as he is German. Has an English Father and was only born in Germany cause his family were posted overseas for the Army. He had a choice to be English qualified internationally, but he would have no choice about being home grown as his family relocated in Germany.

Any danger of Spurs announcing the Davies and Vorm signings anytime soon?! They do like to drag things out!

I reckon they're just waiting for when Sigurdsson has sealed his deal with Swansea and then announce a "Davies and Vorm join, Gylfi departs" headline on the OS.

Baldini had better start working on our deadline day deals now if we're going to get them done on time.

You're probably right. Having one player train with the team and the other tell the press that he's signed makes a bit of a mockery of the situation, though.
