Losing Cabaye was the biggest dent in their chances, but they've bought sensibly over the past few years and there's no reason to suppose this summer will be any different. Anyway, it appears you've taken my post far too seriously seeing as I never actually accused you of having a pop over a friendly (yet you've decided to defend yourself against accusations that weren't there). As stated by both of us (something we finally agree on), friendlies are pointless and no player, club, manager etc should be judged on them. And the Colback story is a non starter, just a journalists publishing a misleading headline to get people to reard his/her story.

I agree totally - I remember when we finished 7th twice in a row we hardly scored pre-season let alone won! Every time we've had a good pre-season we've ended up having a **** season and, normally, vice versa! They are meaningless games but good to be involved in to raise cash for smaller clubs (like Hartlepool, Carlisle & Darlington) but, at the end of the day, they are only there to serve a purpose and, regardless of final results, that is all they'll do
