Daily Fail now reporting that Man Utd are in for Hummels for only £16m! If that move precipitates, it'd be the transfer of the window, better even than Arsenal's Sanchez move.
I actually thought Ozil was German's only player who didnt quite like up to the same level as the rest at the world cup.
well if they was getting him for that fee, surely his wages would be near enough as stupid as rooneys or damn close to it? only 2 teams who can compete with that, and they don't seem interested. yet
How come no other German player created more scoring chances at the world cup then? Or dribbles completed? Or passes in opposition half?
So do I. He was definitely a weak link, imo. I've been impressed with him in the past, but recently he's been well off form.
Exactly. Why do people ignore wages? Rooney's new contract was £0m transfer fee and over £86m of wages.
Agreed. But it's also clear that while Ozil hasn't yet consistently been at his 'best' (although has been in periods) he's 'less than best' is still pretty damn productive. When you spend most of the season with your outlets being Giroud and Cazorla (no pace in either) it's going to be harder to create. Hopefully with Sanchez and Walcott either side of him we'll see some pacy outlets for him to find.
Well, I've been watching footie for 50 years and I've never waited for the stats to come out to tell me what I thought of the game.
Because it is f**king inconsequential to us. We are football fans writing on a forum, and I really couldnt give a toss what player gets paid what, has no bearing on anything.
No one is saying he isn't a decent player. I wouldn't want him though because he doesn't suit our play. He is relatively lazy and has poor fitness. Lallana made the highest number of interceptions. The importance of pressing to turn over possesion and counter was demonstrated perfectly by Ozil weakly losing the ball to us and setting Arsenal up for being obliterated in 20 minutes. It wasn't the only time he did that too, and his lazy penalty against Bayern ended your CL hopes. Ozil can create chances but we already have players to do that.
Are you ******ed? Why do transfer fees get spoken about then? Claiming Hummels is ONLY £16m transfer fee is meaningless if he's also £80m+ of wages and prevents many other players being signed for years to come.
The press are claiming Reus was originally going to join Barca this summer. But for some reason Barca no longer have the money.... As a result BVB could still be open to a move for Reus if his fee is met.
Your comparing him to Lallana, which is laughable, and suggests that he's merely adequate (which is what Lallana is). And no, you don't have anyone nearly as good as Ozil.
Outrageous signing for anyone that gets him. But I'm pretty sure Klopp has just come and rubbished any reports linking any Dortmund players with any moves whatsoever.
No. But neither is it any less worthy. Many stats can be chosen to uphold a predetermined outcome. Many are simply meaningless blather- pass completion rate, for instance, or ground covered. A player could have a **** game but get the winning goal. That goal is obviously crucial but it still doesn't mean he played well, overall. Anyone who watches a match knows who plays well and who doesn't, regardless of what stats say.
