I'm hoping that with Man U after Hummels they won't go for De Vrij as well. No guarantees as Man U's current central defensive options aren't great !

I know for a fact Caulker was never our number 1 target. We made cautious enquiries and tried to keep him as very much a second (or maybe third choice) target. We then tried to make our interest public to feign more of an interest than we actually had. Unfortunately I have absolutely no idea how things are going regarding our first choice target

Kind of obvious tbh. Hardly any press covered the story and no one even asked Koeman.

Just saw that. Unlikely but would be an excellent signing with CB option in him as well

If we manage to pull of the Dr Vrij Signing maybe it would make sense pairing him with Vlaar. Could hit the ground running straight away defense wise.

Gnabry wouldn't be a bad idea, as long as he's not expensive.
It's exciting to think of Forster, De Vrij, Van Dijk/ Vlaar, Rojo, Ings & Gnabry coming to St Marys - as of course they all undoubtedly will!
I can cope with losing Morgan and Dejan Lovered in that context. And Dani - but I can cope with losing Dani in any context...
I really really don't want to lose JRod :emoticon-0101-sadsm

Rather have Dijk and Vrij with Fonte and Yoshida as back up. I still don't think De Vrij will sign tho.

I think it'd be a bit rash to replace three of last season's back four in one window. Keep Fonte in, at least to start with.

Yeah every one would be given a chance. I was mainly saying I don't want Vlaar.

One good thing about Vlaar is he can play holding mid if needed. That'd mean we wouldn't lose tons of physicality when Vic gets injured. He'd be nice to have on the bench, though he's not a good enough signing for a starting position.

I think Vlaar's performances in the WC, often against players with great pace, have shown him to be a better defender than most of us are giving him credit for. Would be a good buy

Why hasn't he been anywhere near as good in the Prem then?
