Honestly, I can't see why JRod would sign a new contract now. He has 2 years to run anyway, so why commit to longer.
But he only has to put up with a smaller wage until next summer when we might want to shift him to avoid him being on a free a year later. He could pull the 'no need to rush card' aka as the Pochettino gambit.
Remember Jay is from Burnley and probably the richest man right now to have ever have come from Burnley. He could probably buy Burnley on his current wage, but he wouldn't buy Burnley because that would be silly and as he's from Burnley, he's a tight git.
Don't like to admit it, but this is one of the more sensible articles, about Premier League clubs operating within the transfer market, that I've read of late. It concentrates on Jay: http://tottenhamhotspur.blogspot.co.uk/2014/07/rodriguez-prepares-to-leave-southampton.html
Still quiet here? I am beginning to think that the club may be fully aware of jay's intentions and have made a clever move. There was talk that he was the first to knock on the door when MP went and talk that MP told him back in March he was off and wanted Jay with him. Well if there is any truth in this and Jay has indicated that he will want out come January, I think the club have played the right hand. Offer the contract and Jay has to make his move. It looks like a good chess move. If jayrod doesn't accept the new deal, then he will look bad in the clubs eyes, tells them and us his intentions and allows the fans and club to prepare for life without him. If he doesn't sign, I'd expect us to be identifying a replacement and wouldn't expect to see Jay on the pitch too much when he returns to fitness, unless we are in dire straits. Come on Jay, I think the expression is: "Time to **** or get off the pot"
Can't argue with his points, but what's all this about Saints fans "coming to terms with the realities of football" bollocks? Does he think we're est.2009?
Yes, that thought struck me too from the moment I read the news, though he could be hanging out for more money.
Come on then Mr Rodriguez. You heard the man. You're not going anyway *hope* so you might as well sign that bit of paper. There's a good lad.
JRods own agent said he wasn't going anywhere until his fitness is sorted anyway, whether that is for our benefit or his to get a bigger fee I don't know.
I'm not sure I would sign a new contract if I was Jay...if he wants to move on eventually, surely he'd be better to stick on a lower wage and find a move easier. Especially as Kreuger seems to have turned into a hard man.
Isn't his name James Rodriguez? Surely this is a false story , he signed for Real Madrid last week (ok) #idiots
Just seen the interview on Sky with Nigel talking about how good Schneiderlin is, followed up by his nice comments about Saints fans and how good the club is and we'll be alright (previously on Audioboo). He did mention that Morgan used to be petulant if decisions went against him, but he got over that (probably because he wasn't allowed to post on twitter during a game). My main point is Nigel's face during the interview...obviously had happy memories when talking about Saints...still loves us
