We have lost Michu,Hernandes,Poz, Canas and Ben Davies from last years squad, and still could lose Bony and JDG. We have brought in Fabranski, Gomis and the young scot lad whose name escapes me for the moment, if we succeed in bringing in Montero and Gulfi will we still be as strong as last season or do we need to continue strengthening.

Rumours are that the Payet deal is back on too.
I still think we need a right back to challenge Rangel. Also, don't forget Ki is back. Should we also get Payet and Montero along with Gylfi and lose nobody else bar Vorm and Davies I think we could be stronger.

Would still love an out and out defensive midfielder though.

There will be far to much change for our rookie manager to get a handle on . I said long before now that if we lost a lot of players our new manager will be in deep poo poo and he is .Big difference between taking over a good and healthy team built by someone else compared to what Monk faces now . Ill be glad if players like Bony , Michu , Pablo , Ki , Vorm and Poz are gone and we make great money . Not because I dont love and respect these wonderful Swans .No , its because in the end , if your not happy here , no matter who , **** off and be happy elsewhere . Then we can rebuild a TEAM and the manager gets a new start .

If bony stays, montero and siggy arrive, I reckon a decent right back would see us ok next year.we also may have a gem in gomis, and dont forget jdg was a relatively late signing last year, but then again, none of us know whats going on, thats all I know in 26 days ill be screaming at whoever takes the field, and as were the first team up a win will put us top of the league.....COME ON YOU JACKS!!

    Agreed
    Even now we need

right back cover / job share for arranged
    Midfield central defence with Leon
    Two wing players
Central attacking midfield player to replace Poz, Pablo, Michu

    If they leave
    left back replacement for Ben
    Midfield for JdG

Signings - Bafe? just don't know, Fulton squad, other Scot -21, Emnes - squad

Lose Bony and we are screwed, Chico will be the only creative player in the squad.

As it stands today we are weaker IMO.

    I like a lot of the players we are linked with though;

    - Montero for Pablo = similar quality (IMO)
    - Siggy for Michu = less quality but as good a bet as any (in our price range) to provide and make goals from that position.
    - Timothee Kolodziejczak for Ben Davies = a possible upgrade
    - Muhammed Besic/Jack Cork for Canas = similar quality (possibly an upgrade)
    - Johnny Williams for Pozuelo = similar quality and potential
    - Kyle Naughton for Tiendalli = improvement

My concern, as others have stated, is that it's too much change too quickly with a rookie manager at the helm (who might try and change the formation as well)...Monk doesn't look a leader to me. If I were a player I certainly wouldn't be able to take him seriously given everything that has gone on and the way he presents...must be very difficult if you're Chico.

    We're losing Vorm.
    We've lost Michu.
If we were to lose Chico and/or Bony the spine of the team will have been significantly damaged.

I am very worried indeed but if the right players come in there's still hope.

The squad still needs 3-5 more players to be complete... Some combo of Wing, CAM, CM & DM with the bolded positions being the most pressing IMO.

Only Ben, JDG, Pablo and Vorm featured for us towards the end of last season. Taylor will replace Ben with Kingsley as backup and Tiendalli can also play on the left. Fabianski instead of Vorm. Montero(if he ever signs) instead of Pablo and JDG says he wants to come back and Ki is still ours at the moment. So things are not as bad as some people are making out. If Gylfi and Poyat sign we will be even stronger although I still think we need a right back and defensive midfielder. My real worry is if we lose Bony.

We have the players to cope already , even if we lose Bony .Couple of midfield additions and a defender and we could be ok .... No matter who else comes in at this point or goes out for that matter , Monk will surely struggle to make anything work imo , not his fault .as he was put in the position hes in by others above him .Regardless of what happens I will always love SCFC , but our fight for survival commences out of the gate this season from the errors of our ways ...cant wait though COME ON SWANS .

The way I look at it is that last season we were involved to some extent in a relegation battle. There were a lot of nervous people around fearing we would go down. At this point in time, surely nobody must think we have anything other than a weaker team than last season ?
Gomis - we really don't know whether or not he'll be any good for us. Unlike Bony, who came to us as the top scorer in Holland, Gomis just comes here on a free transfer with no amazing stats to back him up. We haven't made any other signing of note as yet. All the talk in the media is about players who are leaving/left us. OK, we are linked with Gylfi, Montero etc but none of these are Swansea players yet. It's all very well being linked with players, but that means nothing until a contract is signed.

Taylor. is not good enough, swapping Ben for Gylfi makes no sense.
If Ben was going a buy out should have been made and if Gylfi was 'essential' buy and use the change towards replacing Ben.
If Gylfi replaces JdG we lose a player who knows what we are trying to do for one who doesn't. Siggurdson did a good job for us when on loan but we no longer play that style of football.

Personal preference but I take Gylfi before De Guzman every day of the week.

Slightly different players really, but agree, Gylfi's dead-ball delivery is probably one of the best in the league and I reckon played in the right way, he could score as many if not more than JDG, so not too much of a problem.

Need a decent right back and a central midfielder if we don't re-sign JDG. We'd then have a stronger squad than the one that performed so well in last year's run-in.

Yes, we will be strong enough and finish in top half. Do you really think we're as bad as some of the weakest teams in the PL? I don't.

We are much weaker than we were last season i have no doubt in my mind. If we lose Bony I will be having a bet on us being relegated this season. We will have no goals in us and will be Championship bound. If we retain Bony there is a good chance that his goals will be able to keep us up. We will be weaker in goals, weaker at fullback. It just doesnt bode well.

Cant help feeling that GM is just way out of his depth in trying to build a squad. Every player we have signed or are about to sign have been linked to us over the past 3 years. I am sure GM has got the old scrap book out and gone through who other managers were looking at and signed them or maybe he used a dart board. The guy is just out of his depth.

Its funny for the last howevemany sesons I have been excited in pre season looking forward to the start of each campaign. Getting excited about seeing our new signings. This year my stomach is turning over and am dreading the whole thing. I just hope I am wrong.

In fairness, Fabianki is a good signing - but we should be cashing in on Vorm - min 6m imo

Pricy, I have to ask, What makes you say he is a good signing. How often have you seen him play or is it all hearsay. 32 appearences for Arsenal in 7 years. How many of those games have you seen to make that judgement.

My boy sadi to me that he thought Gomis was an awsome signing and was quality. he has never seen him play, but he is highly rated on fifa and that is where his assumption comes from.
