Just a pointer for the O/P - Trencin played the 1st leg of the last qualifier at another team's ground (Dubnica) due to the low capacity of their own and terracing is not approved by UEFA. http://www.microsofttranslator.com/...n=2013/finals/venueguide/city=1539/index.html Might be worth checking if this will happen again.
Chazz , don't you realise those who book the "package deal" that City will offer will get first refusal .. too early mate .. as they said they will announce travel offers late this week / early next week .. I would guess including tickets
Sedlec is very disappointing (although it does have a chandelier made from at least one of every bone in the human body). For Prague, if castles are your thing then Prague castle is nice. Slightly further out are karlstejn and konopiste (housed the Crown Jewels of the Holy Roman Empire and home of archduke Franz Ferdinand respectively). If drinking is your game then try and find pubs that serve "tankova" (unpasteurised beer), it's pretty special. If breweries are your thing then take a trip to plzen or ceske budkejovice for the urquell and budvar breweries. Eating in the touristy bits of Prague is steep but you can find decent prices if you know where to look. The only clubbing I did in Prague was at karlove lazne near Charles bridge. Vienna zoo is nice and you can visit schonbrunn or the hofberg if you want to learn a bit more about the hapsburgs. Never properly done drinking in Vienna but got laughed at when we asked a barman where the clubs were (very coffee shop culture). Also there's the old fairground that has the Ferris wheel from the third man. Bratislava wasn't really my cup of tea. Castle is pretty naff, they have weird sculptures in the street of photographers and sewer workers. I stayed in the hotel kyjev. Very communist era building but breakfast was good. There's a big tesco next door if you get homesick. Look out for the new bridge that looks like a UFO. I seem to recall drinking was quite expensive and didn't go on a proper night out there. Hope that helps a bit.
I've just realised there's two mestsky statdions, one in Slovakia and one in Czech Republic. The one I was looking at was the Czech one. The dubnica one is indeed a shed with a running track around it, not the one in the pic I posted. It meets capacity requirements, so I guess it'll meet the others. But there are some funny ones like dressing room size, amount of VIP seats etc. which it could fail on. As always TWT.
with only a few hundred tickets, Humberside airport as a sponsor partner , and limited days to do it , what do you think ?
Here's the main differences between the stadium categories http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_stadium_categories It has to be category 3 for the 3rd qualifying round, it definitely meets category 2 as that's the criteria needed for the 2nd qualifying round. Some of those requirements are just impossible for us to find out, but it don't see any reason why it wouldn't meet it.
let alone that AND the VIP, sponsors, etc seats to add to it ... will be interesting to see where it ends up
It has two long pitch side stands, if there's any shortfall they could set deck chairs out on the running track. please log in to view this image It's the press facilities that I think will be the biggest question mark. Can anyone find out if any nearby Slovakian teams have ever made it to q3 and if so, what stadium they used?
My guess would be, if it doesn't get played in a Dubnica, it will be played at Stadion Pasienky in Bratislava. The other alternative would be the Stadion pod Dubňom in Zilina. Edit: in fact, the a zilina stadium would most likely be the first choice option. Better stadium and half the distance from Trencin as Bratislava.
Give my love to Jana ( Bratislava) by the way....anyone remember when City played Slovan Bratislava at B.P ....early 60s if I recall...think we beat 'em too.
£399 direct from Humberside airport according to Phil Buckingham at Ferriby tonight. Bit expensive IMO.
Can anyone remember which team it was that we played at BP? A warlord owned the team but his bitch was sat in the dugout and was photoed in Prinny Quay with two massive bodyguards with her. Think it was Serbian Croat.
