The evidence is being selectively provided by one side. I honestly don't think that Putin has any control on the separatists any more then the Michael Higgins as the President of Eire has over the IRA. You are right the Ukrainians have the technology and the training in using Russian weapons and these weapons 'may' have fallen into the wrong hands.

You have to ask yourself the question that if the west/ukraine knew that the rebels had weapons that could potentially take out a commercial aircraft why then didn't they create a no fly zone? The rebels had already taken out Ukrainian planes. Maybe if they didn't do it then they allowed it to happen to muster international support.

Questions we will never know the answer to.

The biggest question that needs answering in my opinion is 'what the hell was that plane doing flying over a known war zone where planes had been shot down in recent days'...This was utter madness.

It wasn't the only one. There was an Air India and another in the sky at the same time.

Cheers joe. There are some interesting facts coming out of the Ukraine today. Firstly, the Russians are saying that mh17 was tracked by Ukrainian warplanes, the video of the supposed rocket launcher on the back of a lorry was taken in Ukrainian held territory. And finally, the most damning of all is a very eminent American reporter who claims that a us intel whistleblower claims that Ukrainian military unit who were pissed took mh17 down

I can furnish the links should anybody want them.

TBH mate, I believe you. There's some serious **** going down there and it does make you wonder which side wants to really kick this off. The Poles are a bit crazy at times but very very loyal and I wouldn't mind one or two next to me in a fist fight. I remember being in Germany 1981 and the company put us in a dorm with Slavs top floor, Croats bottom floor with us on the floor between them. Back then we thought they were all the same (usually machine shop workers, i.e. Millers, Lathe Operators etc) but the battles that took place between them were epic. I have never seen so much hatred between two sets of people.

The poles are mad. But very nationalistic and are hugely offended if anybody says anything the least bit negative about poland. The majority of them were fed a whole load of **** history at school which they still believe to this day. The only pole I've ever met that has his head screwed on about history is a 91 year old who fought in the polish underground in warsaw. The Ukrainians (especially the polish ones) would do anything to get one over on the Russians and wouldn't care at who's expense. When it kicked off in Kiev I remember being on the bus going to work and the signs were displaying a message saying Ukraine Poland is behind you! Indeed they were. The whole region is a powder keg and I hope the west haven't lit the fuse.

An inquiry will be held into the death of the Russian dissident Alexander Litvinenko, the Home Secretary Theresa May is expected to announce.

Mr Litvinenko, a former KGB officer, died in 2006 in a London hospital after he was allegedly poisoned with radio active polonium.

The investigation is set to examine whether the Russian state was behind his death.

Mrs May is due to publish a written statement to Parliament later.

A government spokeswoman said: "An announcement in relation to the death of Alexander Litvinenko is due to be made on Tuesday morning.

"We will provide no further details until an announcement has been made to the House."

Why the hell are we bringing this up now? I've got to admit, this doesn't look good.

Anything to rubbish the Russians. The government is clutching at straws. They will probably hold an inquiry in the death of the Tsar as well!
