The level of control that Merc have over the race is quite incredible. The rest are light years behind. That being said, despite their utter domination, there was some great racing again today. All we can hope for is everyone else is beavering away on their 2015 cars and get more of a contest next season. (May need to open up engine development too). Oh... not sure the driver is irrelevant. They still have to bring it home, same as any driver that has the luxury of a dominant car.
err, where's this happening? Have we missed something, or is it because a few have just replied to your quote and they're not quite as wound up as you'd like, so you feel the need to bring up the victimization issue to see if you can start it all off again? Seems you feel the need for attention.
How am I wrong? Just because he did what he was supposed to do and get 3rd or higher doesn't make it a good drive, he couldn't even keep his tyres intact! Now this is a year you probably haven't ever heard of but 2005 (You know.. the year which was before 2007. Shock, I know) Germany, look up this guy called Juan Pablo Montoya and tell me what he did without drs and a car a second or two faster a lap.
I disagree Fred... I thought it was a good solid drive. Did what he needed to, limited the points loss nicely and kept himself in the fight. You can't really criticize that tbh. I'd call that a good day!
I guess that I'm just really picky to when it comes to good drives, before the race I was expecting him to come 2nd, even Lauda said he'd be 2nd by the end and when he just drives into Raikkonen and Button costing himself 3 points, I don't think it was anything special. I felt Manussen's comeback was better, in a car which is supposed to only get 7th or 8th on a good day he managed to get 9th, again I don't think it was anything special but he's probably my driver of the weekend
You talk some utter rubbish, with kimi that was pure racing and neither car was damaged, as for button, we went so wide and acted exactly like he was allowing lewis to pass and then cut back in front of him, he was barely on the track. Either way that won't matter to you , becuase deep down inside you are consumed with a hatred of the man, which means every time he wins you die a little inside...pathetic
Did anyone find it Ironic that when Mercedes told Hamilton to press the magic button, Hamilton pressed Button a bit to much.
I think Fred has a point in relation to drives from the back, although it's difficult to criticise (nor do I think he should be) Lewis it's hard to get over pumped by an expected performance which is primarily led by the strength of the car. There have been far better drives from the back, but there have been far worse!
Can't remember if it was the Kimi one, or perhaps the Button one, where Hamilton braked on a diagonal so he was moving towards the outside of the corner under braking, was not impressed with that. Trying to squeeze someone out when you're both full on the brakes is not going to end well, and Hamilton got lucky the contact was minimal. Will Buxton was giving someone a proper earful on the GP2 commentary on Saturday for pulling a similar move, I'd be interested to see what his opinion was on that one.
I agree with almost everything you have said, except I think Ricciardo's drive was the best, got dumped down the order through no fault of his own and made his way back up to 6th, without a car 1 - 1.5 seconds faster I can only surmise you have a few people blocked.
I don't recall Buxton giving comment on that incident. He's the pit lane reporter during the race so doesn't get to comment on every issue. And I believe you're talking about when he clobbered Kimi. Yeah it was a bit sloppy and not the cleanest of attempts. No harm done though.
Ricciardo so far has been my driver of the season, and was certainly my driver of the day yesterday. Hamilton did what he needed to do, and as such some will wet themselves with excitement whilst others will argue that he's a disgrace to man kind, its always the same. Bottas did well to make the tyres hang on and although it was a very good drive he's in the awkward situation where it would have been a failure not to finish 2nd (or maybe 3rd) given other drivers results.
Yeah, Ricciardo has driven well, but that he was the real deal was obvious from HRT, I thought it could have gone either way last year at STR, Vergne wasn't so good in Q but better during race day for the early part of the season and I think their telling everyone Vergne and Ricciardo were racing for Webbers seat was a great psychological test to see which one had the mental strength not to wilt when the pressure went up, apart from some silliness at Suzuka he easily outdrove Vergne from then on, some can't handle it, and some thrive on it. as to Hamiltons drive, he was far too 2011 and could've given up a load of points with rash actions for it to be considered a good drive, it was okay not much more than that, Rosberg cruised the race and finished miles ahead, I would be interested to see what engine settings they were on to compare, Merc have been sandbagging a bit all season, yesterday Hamilton was given full rein to use all of it and we saw him blast past drivers who were in slipstream with their DRS open.
Hamilton certainly got some good tows yesterday,

Cla Driver Km/h

1 Lewis Hamilton 345.2

2 Sergio Pérez 341.0

3 Valtteri Bottas 340.2

4 Jean-Ãric Vergne 335.7

5 Daniel Ricciardo 334.6

6 Kevin Magnussen 333.6
