    Would be a great acuasition to go along with the rest but we'd need to sell I think before we get him.

    As for cisse when's he's fit and with the quality of De Jong sissoko & cabella I can see him getting back on the score sheet more often

    Although he's a superb player, if we're going to splash 12m on someone then id rather it was a proven goalscorer.

    The creative flair is now there but the finisher is not.

    End of Luke Edwards' article on Ben Arfa. Looks like pure speculation to me:

    Although right-back Mathieu Debuchy has left to join Arsenal, Newcastle have already signed six players and have indicated they still plan to bring in at least two more before the close of the window.
    Having apparently ended their interest in Clément Grenier, the Lyon midfielder, Newcastle could well end up landing one of their long-term targets after he asked to be put on the transfer list.
    That is likely to mean a drop in Lyon’s £12 million asking price and Newcastle could test Lyon’s nerve with a much lower bid next week.

    Rumours are starting up that we have made a new bid for Grenier, some even go so far as to suggest that we have agreed terms with the player but not agreed a fee with Lyon. Unfortunately I think they all stem from a wayward nufcblog.com article.

    They were from a couple of French football enthusiasts, 'tweeted' in French - thank you Google Translate - about 20minutes or so before I mentioned it on here. What made me a little more hopeful is that the accounts and tweets were not connected with one another. Obviously there is only a slight chance of there being any truth in it, but I'll happily delude myself and hope the usual sources had simply not picked up on it yet.

    One twitter account suggested we had placed a bid with Lyon to the tune of £14million, the other stated that Grenier was in Newcastle.

    Love how everyone is assuming these signings are quality as we all know some will flop and all eventually get worse under Pardew.I'm mean I can't name a single player that's got better under Pardew and not one that hasn't in got worse.

    I'd love us to get Grenier as well. Just don't think its likely- all the noises seem to suggest the lads not that keen on coming here.
