^^^^This is on the money for me, cannot add anything other than Michu has a lot of growing up to do, and I would have preferred him to have been sold, but you cannot always get what you want, I'm sure Huw tried his best to sell him off!...........
I just wonder if some of us would be so kind to Michu if he hadn't been an instant legend for us. The guy has spat his dummy imo and as others have said needs to grow up and get a handle on his emotions. An injury that was hyped up and exaggerated (imo), a recovery that never was and ill-tempered, petulant and ineffective displays for the Swans thereafter all add up to a player who doesn't give a **** about the club he made a commitment to when he signed - call me old fashioned but players don't actually sign for managers even if that manager is a major reason for him coming here. Sad but true. Wish we'd sold him as well. Thanks for that one season, Miguel but if that's your attitude good riddance.
I'm pretty disappointed with the way Michu has handled this too. Definitely wore his heart on his sleeve for the second half of last season and it didn't come across as professional. I, too, think that the injury was over-hyped, and his performances were certainly lacklustre in comparison to his influential, combative performances of 2 seasons ago. Furthermore, he hasn't tweeted or posted any thanks to the Swansea fans for their support over the last two seasons, of which we gave him a God-like status at times. Effectively, he's brushed Swansea under the carpet since he decided he wanted to leave. Great player in his first season for us. But other than that, it's going to be hard for me to miss him.
Michu wasnt the only one acting in a non professional way the 2nd half last season .He was reacting to non professionalism from the club , from sacking to squad selection to players being isolated for personal reasons .imo . I hold no ill will toward Michu and wish him the best .
The non-professional attitude was not towards him. The club always acted professionally regarding his situation - tending to his injury with patience - although admittedly the club didn't cover itself in glory in all situations last season. Regardless of that, it wasn't my point...non-professionalism from the club should not mean that he shouldn't thank the fans for our support. The fans deserve more than that. We always gave Michu undying support and love during his time here. I wish him well with his career, but as I said, I won't really miss him. Looking forward with optimism with Emnes and Gomis.
Maybe you have something there roof. But you dont become a bad player over night. With a different manager here i think we would have seen a different Michu. Thats not criticising GM before everyone jumps in. So maybe if he doesnt want to play for him he does need to be moved on. But again am staggered that people are having a go at him. All players have attitude and all show it in different ways. was he being forced to play injured, was he fit enough to play when he did. None of us know or what was happening behind the scene. But I have seen people in work who have been treated poorly and gues what their work suffered. Would love him to still be here, he has gone so good luck to him.
Once laudrup was sacked in such a cowardly and amateur way , and Michu watched the way the other spanish players were treated in such a "school ground way ", he had no stomach for SCFC and frankly who could blame him . He was waiting to get out from then and as it turns out , he aint the only one .
Be careful not to turn this into another Laudrup debate. To blame every exit on the Laudrup's sacking is foolish and short-sighted. Michu and Pablo wanted out. Canas and Pozuelo were told they were no longer needed before they wanted out. Ben never stated he wanted out. Chico and Amat are on tour putting in the hard labour, showing commitment, without even the slightest hint so far that they want to leave. Bony always stated that a Top-4 club is an option if they offer, but otherwise he's happy at Swansea. The above would not an abnormal situation at any club. Even if all 7 players listed above leave, SCFC will live on. There is no way SCFC will get relegated this season. No way.
"But again am staggered that people are having a go at him." I'm staggered you're staggered, TLF. 1: Michu doesn't give a **** about Swansea nor its fans. AS BK points out, not even a tweet thanking the club or the fans for supporting him through his 'injury'. 2: He doesn't want to play for the club he made a commitment to when he put pen to paper - the Club that gave him his big break in the Prem. 3: Dreadful, half hearted and ill-tempered displays for us when he did play - a complete waste of space. 4: Mounting evidence that he exaggerated (lied) about his injury. One minute his career was under threat now he's playing Champions League. Ridiculous. People need to stop this hero worship of Michu. I'm sorry but if any other player had behaved like this we would all be highly critical and rightly so. I wonder what your view would be if say, Amat had acted in this way. A brilliant first season but that doesn't let him off the hook imo for what he's done since. A fully firing and mentally stable Michu is an asset to any club but sadly the guy is an emotional wreck and we're well rid.
You raise 4 oints and what he has done is no different from any other player at any other club. !. How many of our players give a s**t about our or any club they are at, get real as long as they are paid at the end of the week they dont care what club they are at. Do you think Gomis cares about us he came here for the money and nothing else. If he has a good season and somebody offers him more he will be gone as would 90% of all our players. 2. We gave him a break in the PL wow. All clubs sign players for the first time to the PL and most move on when offered more money. That is just the way it is. perhaps he should be kissing HJ's feet for giving him the chance to score 20 odd goals for us. 3/4 Show me the evidence that he lied about his injury. Make sure the evidence is factual and not just rumour and maybe you have something. Most of everyones coments are just bitterness to him moving on. We all need to say thanks and accept he has gone. I am not hero worshiping him, why do you assume that. Is it just because my views are different to yours. He has done nothing diferent to what 100's of player do every year. He has moved on to bigger and better things. i wonder if you liked him and wanted him to stay would you be bitching about him moving. I expect a reply but that is my final word on it. I think some on here have been ungratefull for what he did for us but that is only my opinion.
The club can do and act anyway they want and players must accept and love the club ..... typical SCFC fan reaction at times ....staggers me . You run a club like amateurs at times , players want out ... simple
To suggest that Huw and co run the club like amateurs is astonishing roof. They took a gamble when sacking Laudrup to stay in the PL, guess what roof, it worked. If some egos have been damaged they can get stuffed and move on.
...and you're entitled to your opinion of course TLF as I am entitled to mine. Michu was a fantastic player for us that first season and that fact is now colouring our fans' views on his departure imo. The fact that other players behave in this way doesn't make it right does it? I maintain that if a lesser player, one not so loved by the fans behaved like this virtually everyone would be spitting chips instead of "wishing him the best". As for your advice to 'get real', well the reality is that this person signed a contract agreeing to play for Swansea City for a set period of time in return for a hefty salary. Now he doesn't want to do that any more because his mentor got the boot - well boo ****ing hoo. Grow a ****ing pair and honour your commitment - or is naive and curiously old fashioned to expect players to behave honourably? As for his injury - you're right about a lack of evidence but my view about Michu exaggerating it is shared by many people I've spoken to and some fans here. Going to Spain for treatment? What was that all about? One minute he's fit then he's not, then we hear it's actually career threatening and now all of a sudden he's passed perfectly fit and joining a CL club. Couple that with his attachment to Laudrup, the timing of his sacking, his inept displays when he played and now his failure to even post a message to the Club or its fans and it's quite easy to come to the conclusion he's pulled a fast one. Yes it's an opinion but it's not an illogical conclusion when looking at established facts but I accept it's one that might not be not shared by others. As for bitterness, too right I'm bitter. Unlike many players who leave Michu is wanted here - wanted by the Manager, the Chairman, the Board and the fans but he's stuck his fingers up to the lot of us - and the fact he was a brilliant player for us (quite some time ago now) shouldn't let us forget that. So **** him.
Itwould have worked better if Laudrup stayed imo , its astonishing to hear guys announce that it all worked because we are still in the Premier , we c8uld havebeen higher and done better in the Cups imo . People , top quality people on the cheap , came to this club because of Laudrup . Whydo you think they all want to go. Bony is deserate to go and has his agent working overtime. Last half of last season wasrun by fools and amateurs.l.
Source? Bony has stated that he is more than happy to stay here unless a CL club comes in for him, which given his desire to test himself against the best week in week out and the way he played last season is bloody obvious roof. JDG was a favourite of Laudrup's yet he wants to come back here. The only reason he won't be back here is because we get priced out or a bigger club comes in for him. It will have sod all to do with Laudrup being sacked or Monk being the manager.
This is what I believe roof is using as his sources. http://talksport.com/football/bony-desperate-complete-ps19m-move-liverpool-claims-lewis-140719102696
But roof is implying that Bony is desperate to leave the club because of what happened around ML etc which is pure nonsense and not for the reasons I stated in my previous post. With Liverpool getting Remy (it looks likely) I can't see Bony going to Liverpool
You'd have to be half brain dead not to notice Michu's petulance, no way am I wishing him anything after his attitude last season, like I said previously he has a lot of growing up to do, and as Dragon born has comprehensively covered, I'm glad to see the back of him, lets hope Huw gets the child of our books sooner rather than later!...................
