I don't think it's pathetic that they won't sell him for the fee we want them to. He's under contract, so we have to agree a fee to get him. Simple. If they lose him in a year for sod all that's their choice. They're not doing anything wrong by the player. If he's so good to deserve a PL move then they deserve paying for their contracted player. I'm sure no one forced him to sign his current deal.
He has a great chance of PL and European football and £2M+ is over the odds(Otherwise other PL clubs would be beating SU's door down which they aren't) and Sheffield Utd are playing silly sods just to win a penis measuring contest. The fact they could be shafting a player clearly isn't a concern to them.
It's their right to reject any bid. If he wants to come here he can hand in a formal transfer request or wait til the contract he signed, agreeing to play for them until next summer, runs out. If we don't meet their valuation for the player why should we get him? He's their prized asset.
We didn't meet their totally unrealistic valuation you mean. The fact no one else is either interested or clearly willing to meet what we have offered proves that. I agree they don't have to sell but it's becoming clear that the player is being used to prove that Sheff Utd aren't a selling club in other words it has become a penis measuring contest. Whilst the player misses out on what could be his one chance.
Worth a visit to the Sheffield mad board, quite a long thread on there regards, how fund promised by the board have not yet materialised, maybe this is why the Sheffield board are playing hard ball, are they skint, and need the money from Maguire to keep there promise's to Clough and the fan's. Hence the inflated market value of 4 million.
How do you know? In reply to others If he isn't sold this year then he might go for nothing next year?
Erm because unless we win the Europa league then only the top 6/7 will give him the chance of European football + Prem football next year seeing as the cup place is being removed.
The cup place isn't being removed - the winner will still get into Europe. But the rule that allows the runner-up in if the winner gets into the CL is being removed. Anyway, when Hat said "he will get his chance" next year if he's good enough, he wasn't necessarily talking about Europe, was he?
My mistake. He was replying to me and I referring to Maguire's comments about Premier league and European football.
