Selling Borini for £14 million and agreeing £8.5 million for Remy with QPR. That seems like good business to me.
Not of he wants to do well in the CL and challenge for the title it isn't. I mean, selling Suarez and replacing him with Lambert and Remy. Well done Brendan
Been away in Ibiza came back today and read this so not sure if it has already been mentioned (too knackered to read all previous posts lol). It would appear Siggy is coming with cash for Ben and Vorm a deal worth £15 mill. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2698386/Tottenham-set-sign-Swansea-duo-Ben-Davies-Michael-Vorm-Gylfi-Sigurdsson-going-way.html
I think we've got cover for Ben Davies (Neil Taylor, Stephen Kingsley) and Vorm (Fabianski, Tremmel) and I think Sigurdsson would be a great signing for us. He knows where the goal is and has good feet. With Shelvey in Midfield and Bony with Gomis up front, we'd have an attack that (on paper) had a bit more chance to score than we've had for a while.
Cant agree with you. Yes we have cover as we have players in those positions, but they are not as good as what has or will possibly leave. So a big step backwards. Do agree with Siggy and strikers though providing we keep Bony
Don't understand the negativity towards Neil. Plenty were calling for him to replace Ben at one point or another last season. Defensively, Ben was like a rabbit in headlights on plenty of occasions last year and didn't offer much in attack either.
I still believe that both full back areas could be our Achilles heel next year. I love rangel, but he is getting older and a little slower and the only cover we have is IMO nowhere near good enough for what we need (Tiendalli), I also dont feel that Taylor is as good as Ben and had some awful performances when he played last year, making some very basic errors. The signing of Kingsley is good for the future, games against Dunfirmiline and QofS isnt great preperation to facing Arsenal and Liverpool. I believe we need a right and left back for next season or we could find ourselves being taken apart out wide.
Taylor in his first season in the PL was just as good as Davies was in his breakout season, Ben went backwards in his second season so I cannot see where you are acquiring your logic for the left back position.
It is a matter of opinions. i believe that Taylor is an inferior full back to Davies. Which will be shown up if we dont sign someone better. He is not as good going forward as Davies and is not as good defensively. This is my opinion of course. It desnt have to be the same as yours or anyone elses. Funny how a fullback who went backwards is wanted by both Liverpool and Spurs. My logic also comes from the fact that both ML and GM saw Davies as the better option at LB than Taylor. Maybe they got it wrong as well and Taylor is better and should have been selected in front of Davies.
After our 2 games in the States I am still not happy about our defensive play. A defensive mid fielder should be our No 1 priority. Incidentally Jazz is a midfielder and has been played out of position at full back.
He still isnt good enough for the PL in any position. I do agree another defensive midfield player would be very handy.
