QPR eye transfers of Van der Vaart, Crouch and Naughton for reunions with boss Redknapp Jul 19, 2014 22:30 By Dave Kidd Promoted Hoops' manager reckons they need at least six new senior pros and is planning bids for men he knows PLUS: Watford's Deeney also a target Together again? Will Redknapp sign Van der Vaart for QPR as he did for Spurs? Harry Redknapp is planning an old boysâ reunion at QPR with bids for his former Tottenham trio of Rafa van der Vaart, Peter Crouch and Kyle Naughton. After the signing of his one-time West Ham protege Rio Ferdinand, Redknapp has been in talks to sign Dutch playmaker Van der Vaart from Hamburg and full-back Naughton from Spurs. Stokeâs former England striker Crouch, a career-long favourite of Redknapp, is also on the radar â although Watford hitman Troy Deeney is his leading target in the striking department. Redknapp insists he needs to sign at least six senior professionals after a glut of players left the newly-promoted club and several others have returned to their parent clubs after loan spells. Van der Vaart, 31, left Spurs for the Bundesliga two years ago after a two-season spell at the Lane and Redknapp believes he can provide Rangers with added flair as they return to the top flight following their Championship play-off victory. Naughton, 25, was close to joining Swansea from Spurs in a player-plus-cash deal involving Ben Davies last week. But he has now been the subject of a bid from QPR. Tottenham want £5million. Crouch, who played for Redknapp at Spurs, Portsmouth and Southampton, is less likely to join QPR as he is on a lucrative deal at Stoke. Also, QPR chairman Tony Fernandes does not want to employ too many veterans on big wages, especially after Ferdinandâs arrival on a free transfer from Manchester United. Deeney, 26, netted 24 times for Watford in the Championship last season and it is believed that the £6m-rated player is his chief striking target. Redknapp, who must still off-load Brazil World Cup keeper Julio Cesar, says he plans to employ former England centre-back Ferdinand as a sweeper in a back three. He said: âI played that way at Portsmouth when we were in the Championship and a few times last year with QPR. It will suit Rio if I can get two alongside him who are quick.â Meanwhile, Redknapp claims English footballâs âtoo much, too youngâ culture is stunting the growth of our most talented kids â and prays Ravel Morrison doesnât join the list of those who have wasted their talent. The QPR boss, who was favourite to be named England manager before Roy Hodgsonâs appointment in 2012, has ridiculed the filthy-rich culture that saw Sunderlandâs Connor Wickham recently spend £17,500 on a bottle of champagne. Redknapp said: âWe have had too many of them in the last few years, English kids who look great at a very young age and donât seem to kick on. âI donât know whether it is the mentality, whether we get so much so early and then you see a kid the other week buying £17,500 worth of champagne â what is all that about? âAnd if youâre honest he wouldnât know an Asti Spumante from a ten grand bottle of bubbly would he? It is a load of cobblers, where we come from isnât it? âWe want to get away from that here. We want lads here who want to have a go for you. I need a group of players who will focus on football and give there all.â Redknapp loaned England Under-21 star Ravel Morrison from West Ham last season and is convinced that the 21-year-old former Manchester United starlet would be world famous by now had he been brought up in any other country Superstar in waiting: Redknapp hopes Ravel Morrison fulfils his huge potential Morrison had disciplinary issues when he was at Old Trafford and Redknapp suggested he is unlikely to sign Morrison permanently, yet he has urged the gifted midfielder to fulfil his potential. The Rangers boss said: âI havenât pursued it with Ravel. I think he is a real talent and it would be such a shame if he doesnât go on to be a top player. âIf he was anywhere else in the world, he would be a superstar. I think he needs to go somewhere else now and really put down a marker. âI donât know for sure. West Ham may want to keep him but if he is available, it could yet be something we pursue.â http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/qpr-eye-transfers-van-der-3884309#ixzz37xskkSFc Follow us: @DailyMirror on Twitter | DailyMirror on Facebook

Agree. VDV certainly struck a purple patch for awhile, but then seem to fade (big time). No reason why Harry couldn't get him back in the groove.
