With Sandro reported too sick to go to Seattle, I fear it may be a case of transfer fever. I hope it's the milder "What a long f**ing plane ride I feel ill." Or have I become too cynical about the reasons announced for not playing in games during the transfer window? I'm really looking forward to that game, incidentally. I'll be very interested to see what Poch's first lineup is, and whether they line up in a 4-2-3-1. Of course managers for the most part don't play many of their starters in exhibitions, but in this case I don't see why he wouldn't. Whoever he does plan to play needs as much time as possible in his system. Funny how Dempsey had as many goals as the entire England team in the World Cup.
Oh, come on! We all know Levy's game by now. Expect the usual "bargain" grab on the last day of the window. Probably, the last minute even!...
They need another striker, especially now Suarez has gone, but I'm not sure where Remy fits in. He's quite similar in style to Sturridge, in my opinion, so I'm guessing that he's being brought in as competition and back-up for him. That still leaves them with another place to fill, though. You'd have thought that they'd be trying to make a high-profile signing to appease the fans. Baldini's in Italy to sell Sandro to Napoli and sign Mattia Destro from Roma, apparently. That would explain the Schneiderlin speculation, if there's any truth to it.
Than Sandro? Destro's a striker. The suggestion is that Sandro's being sold to Napoli so that we can sign Schneiderlin from Southampton as his replacement. I've no idea who Destro's supposed to be a replacement for. Adebayor's had a few whispers and Soldado's been linked with Inter, I think.
Wouldn't it make more sense to have a medical at Spurs Lodge, then fly out to join the rest of the squad?
Looks like it's pretty much a done deal - fingers crossed!... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...e-from-Swansea-City-to-Tottenham-Hotspur.html
For the price - Remy is well worth it, yeah he'll probably spend a fair bit of time on the bench as Sturridge is our main man - but selling Borini for 14mil and buying Remy for 8.5mil is very good business. Sunderland have been robbed!! I expect us to make a big money signing before the end of the window. We need a new LB and a game changer - I'm hoping for Moreno and Reus, but I doubt we'll get both. I'm just so glad our new LB isn't Ben Davies as we were in for him too. Now it's very likely he'll be a Spurs player. I don't see what the fuss is about - very average player imo.
I agree, Borini is totally overpriced but Remy's valued on a release clause. The money you save from that, however, is spent on wages from the sound of things. I wouldn't be surprised if much of the Borini fee is related to Sunderland staying in the league too. I'm not a fan of Remy, as I said when we were linked, he's decent but I think people get carried away with the odd flash of quality. Another player to pad out Liverpool's squad though and that's what they need. Trouble is that's going to take the spending up to £70mill and the defence still needs work.
