Politics aren't my thing but I find it bizarre anyone would defend Putin.

I'm not the delusional one mate. The US funded right wing Ukrainians to unsettle Ukraine the Russians in the Ukraine are afraid and who can blame them after watching fellow Russians burning to death in Odessa. The US never ****s in its own garden and Europe will pay for the **** that the US have left in our garden for decades. The leaders of the EU and US are as much to blame as anybody for whatever has or will happen in Ukraine. If you lived a stones throw from Russia with your family (as I do) you would be a bit pissed off that Uncle Sam is yet again setting out to destabilise yet another part of the planet. I suppose living in Tyne and Wear you can feel apart from it though.

Nobody's defending Putin. But then again few people have proof that he wants to expand Russia and fewer people are condemning The EU and US actions in destabilising the region.

The way I see it is, Western Ukraine wanted to join the EU, the Country had a president that did not want that, hence protests & violence and the scarpering of the said president. The Western Ukrainians also wanted a voice, freedom of speech and all that goes with being a human being and not a prisoner of another mans goals, a man that wants to side with a man with 1930's political views. It happens, they join and the East of Ukraine kicks off, they form their union army and every ounce of common sense, humanity leaves their pathetic bodies, because they are fighting for a cause. We have been here so many times before in history and seeing a guy in camouflage and a pair of trainers are a fact of life. These ****ers aren't soldiers and never will be, they are being supported by the big hammer to cause as much disruption as possible, they are basically ignoring people they have lived with for years, grew up with to be seen as a martyr and bombing, shelling their ****ing homes.

I worked and lived in West Germany in the late 70's when the cold war was rife, I also worked with a lot of older Polish workers that were granted work permits by the old 'Iron Curtain' to earn a cut above there actual wage. We were on £8 an hour back then, they were on £1 an hour. The Polish government knew they wouldn't defect, they were to old and had masses of family at home. Tell you what though, some of soundest people I have met on this planet and they will work till they drop..

It is a crazy situation, and my theory is that Russian weapons have been put in the hands of a rebel army what looks like has a significant number of an undisciplined drunken rabble within their ranks...This to me is a recipe for disaster..

Think you missed a trick there lad, Putin would willingly take eastern Ukraine for its agriculture at first then the opportunity to militarise it later. All the fighting would stop if Ukraine conveniently handed it over.

This is the sad fact that sandancer can't, or won't grasp. The facts are pretty much indisputable now. But when you're constantly fed by propaganda, you'll accept the line that best suits your position.

He's right that we were fed the same **** from Blair, as expressed in earlier posts, but in this particular issue, the plain simple facts are that Russia has ****ed up, and it takes balls to stand up on the international arena to admit that they're in the wrong. And Putin won't and can't do that.

Best suits! 1 year ago I felt safe here, not now! Thanks to Eu/US That's the blunt truth. I know how these people think and the uk should keep out of Central European politics. Giving 5 billion to the fascists in Ukraine (hitlers mates) was akin to Russia (or America!!) involving themselves and arming one side in Northern Ireland. Wait a minute!! America did! And I bet you didn't read about that either.

Really, the western press tell you what the western government wants to read. You really need to understand Central European history first before claiming how naïve I am.

Russia has a duty as does any other country to protect its own, the west has created a situation that may make the Balkans look like a garden party. Ukraine was a buffer between Europe and Russia but will now be a conflict zone for generations instead.

The blunt fact is that had the west not initially meddled in Ukraine in the first place we wouldn't be discussing the deaths of so many innocent people now. Cameron, Tusk, Obama and Merkel have as much blood on their hands as Putin and I don't hear many people taking them lot to task.

Russia has a history of being a deceitful country, pretend to be the big protectors of the former communist countries, when in fact it's the opposite. I don't know a great deal of the situation, but you living in that area must have heard about Katyn, sand dancer?

I am confused by your information and opinion. Ukraine was a Slavic state for centuries along with many others in that region. It was integrated into the control of Russia but not ruled by it until the 1920s when Stalin cracked down on the kulak farmers demanding collectivisation for the good of the state, probably because of its white status in the civil war. It appears that the more recent history of politics have been soured by internal meddling to ensure that certain people got top jobs and that election results were tampered with leading to favouritism to pro- Russian politicians.

Ukrainian internal politics have been just that - they want independence from everyone but see the greatest opportunities for progress by joining the EU. No interference by USA or EU was needed. Maybe it just needs Russia to stop trying to be self sufficient and joining with the rest of the world.

Whether he likes it or not Putin will be living in a capitalist world sooner than later.

Indeed I have. I don't disagree with anything you say but in this matter the west has stirred up a big hornets nest that didn't need stirring. How on earth did the US/EU expect the Russians to react when Russians are being burnt to death in Odessa or Russians being killed on Russian soil? I didn't see the west condemning those actions. Can you imagine if the USA had succeeded in Northern Ireland and the Unionists asking the Uk for support? Exactly the same situation an aggressive super power encamped in a country and starving the populous? Only in this case the US has armed the populous and expects a peaceful end! As if.

Putin is a capitalist he sells gas to Europe and buys French warships! The same people condemning him are gladly greasing his palm. Russia allegedly shoots down a civil aircraft and the French are selling them the means to do more.the EU and US are silent on French arms deals...why?

You seem to have a pro Putin stance on this matter, which is surprising considering your location. I've been to Poland many times, have a few friends there, and I know they hate the Russians with a passion.

I just wanted to say somewhere on the Sunderland boards a big thank you to the SMB community for what they have started up. It's utterly incredible and I do thank them for what is being achieved, the generosity, the spirit and the initiative shown.

I would have rather have posted it on the SMB boards but my admission was declined so if you do mind I would like to give my heartfelt thanks and admiration here as there will be some crossover for sure.

Thank you again for the true footballing and sporting spirit shown. I applaud you and all those who contributed.
