I will be OK then! Afternoon all from a very hot and humid bandit country. Just drying out after another torrential down-pour, hopefully enough to cut the grass later. Big day for our village today, there is the annual football tournament in memory of a local lad who passed away after completing the London Marathon. Mrs W_Y is putting together a scrap book for eldest son's 30th birthday, one of the old photo's she found was of a birthday party when they were little boys. Makes you think! Busy week ahead, MrsW_Y's graduation on Tuesday morning and then we are off to Mexico early on Wednesday morning.
Afternoon and it is still warm. Rain and storms were forecast for last night so didn't bother to do the watering. Nothing arrived, so had to go and do it first thing this morning. I will try and listen to the smooth tones of Jon Marks for some of the time this afternoon and will be interested to see what team(s) are played. I never get too excited about pre-season friendlies, but applaud those who make the trips.
Looks like a strong team that we are putting out to start with. Watfordfc XI v Shrewsbury Town: Gomes (GK); Doyley, Ekstrand, Cathcart, Pudil; Battocchio, Tozser, McGugan; Vydra, Deeney (C), Dyer.
WTF. Two late goals. I know it's a friendly and all that but we can't go down that road again this coming season. Beppe MUST have a plan to combat those.
OK you lovely people, I'm off babysitting my granddaughter for a couple of hours, so straight to bed when I get home! Night all Night H
A big day here for two football clubs. Chateauroux had a bad run at the end of last season and finished up 18th out of 20 in Ligue 2. Relegation then and the replacement team would be Luzenac AP from the National league. Luzenac is a small town in the Pyrénées with a population of 650 and they play at Stade Paul Fédou, which has a capacity of 1,600. The football authorities have said that Luzenac cannot take the place they won in Ligue 2 and Chateauroux will play in the new season that starts on the 1st August. I cannot find out why there has been the ban, but some fans believe it stems from the TV company that started to show Ligue 2 football last year. If that it is the case then we have another example of TV dictating to football. Anyway Luzenac appealed the decision last week and the result is expected today. They are threatening to close the club down if they are denied promotion, and Chateauroux are waiting to see if they can make some signings to complete the team. All very last minute stuff and not very helpful with the new season so close.
Our ticket office is really rubbish at times. Tickets for the cup game at Stevenage were supposed to go on sale to ST holders at 17.30 tonight - still not yet available online. Utter rubbish.
Morning all from a milder Bandit Country. It's Mrs W_Y's graduation this morning, so off to Bandit Central in a bit...god it's a dump.
