Harry Redknapp keen on deal for former West Ham midfielder Jack Collison By Sam Long Posted on July 19, 2014 Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp has hinted that he is keen to offer free agent Jack Collison a deal at Loftus Road this summer. The 25-year-old ended his nine year association with West Ham United at the end of last season after failing to agree a contract extension with the Upton Park outfit, penning an emotional open letters to the clubâs supporters to bid farewell. Having spent time on loan at Wigan Athletic and Bournemouth in the Championship the midfielder struggled to earn regular game time under Hammers boss Sam Allardyce and was subsequently deemed surplus to requirements. However, he has not been inundated with offers since his departure and looked destined to drop out of the Premier League. But He has been given the opportunity of a retrieve in west London after Rangers boss Redknapp revealed that the offer of a contract could be in the pipeline. Collison is versatile and could play a central of wide role for the newly promoted side and would represent a decent addition as they bid to preserve their status in Englandâs top tier. Meanwhile, Redknapp has already strengthened his back line, following the announcement that former England skipper Rio Ferdinand has signed a one year contract at the club. The ex-Manchester United manâs arrival should be regarded as a positive move but it should not be forgotten that an balanced squad that received vast wages unsettled the club during their most recent spell in the Premier League. DONâT GO ANYWHERE JUST YET! WEâVE GOT ONE MORE STAT FOR YOU Jack Collison did not create a single chance in 10 Premier League appearances for West Ham United last season.
I don't really know anything about him. Is he any good? Looks like he's enjoying pre-season from the pictures anyway
But on the other hand......... he's a really good lad, a proper footballer, who always gives 100% effort and never leaves anything on the pitch.
Don't see there's room if O'Neil's being offered a new contract, otherwise age wise ok but really going to just be a squad player when we need to add a bit of quality at CM.
I was thinking yesterday that we need squad players. We're not Man City and we can't have superstars sitting in reserves. We need a few squad players who are decent and can come in when needed. I'd rather keep O'Neill because he was part of the core we had last season but this guy may be ok, especially with a change of scene. But he may also turn out to be ****e for us.
He is definitely the right sort and young (see open letter below). As AWJM says we need squad players, we are not Citeh they cannot all be superstars. We need players ready to wait for their opportunity and then to come into the team, to try and grab there spot....Jack Collison is one of them If he came he would owe Arry a good response......and he looks the sort of player to take into the squad Should be cheap (in a PremLeague footballer sort of way) Take him http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...-word-open-letter-West-Ham-fans-released.html
Based on his open letter to the West Ham fans, he's certainly the right sort and I'd be happy enough to have him. Good squad cover.
Some Hammers friends of mine say he was a decent player until he got injured, but never really recovered. Hence the fact he was released
He's not good enough to be a squad player for one of our relegation competitors. He could not deliver for the club he loves to the core. No one else is interested in him. Sounds perfect.
Wouldn't pay much heed to that mate. Alf and the other lad on the WH Board told us Maiga was a good signing
