http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28385300 Liverpool have agreed an £8.5m fee with QPR to sign France international striker Loic Remy. The bid activated a release clause in the contract of the 27-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Newcastle. He is now expected to discuss personal terms and have a medical with the Reds before completing the move. Remy was part of the France squad that reached the quarter-finals of the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil and made two appearances as a substitute. He moved to Newcastle on loan after QPR's relegation from the Premier League in 2013 and scored 14 league goals for the Magpies. The arrival of Remy at Anfield is likely to coincide with the departure of Fabio Borini, after Liverpool accepted a £14m offer for the Italian forward from Sunderland, where he spent last season on loan. Remy joined QPR during their last top-flight spell, making an £8m switch from French club Marseille in January 2013. He scored six league goals for the west London club but could not stop them being relegated that season.
Just saw this too...initial reaction is disappointment, but not surprise. He obviously only saw us a stepping stone to greater things, and it has worked for him. Can't really hold that against him, but still disappointed that we didn't get to see more of him. Obviously he'll get a hatrick at Loftus Road now this season.
If this deal goes through, it is a good plan well executed. He joined us feeling confident he could score and get noticed by a better club.
So Remy was pretty much a pointless buy. 6 goals, didnt help avoiding relagation, left us last season and now left us this season for the same price webought him. I fail to see any well planned. operation here.
We took a punt on him keeping us up and we have him a get out of jail free card. He's now playing it. Don't think we'll lose too much overall.
